Some dudes got shot on 40th and Sierra last night, that area has been cracking in the last few months.

Most murders in San Bern I've noticed are really just random, or not gang related. Don't get me wrong I know the gang activity is high in SB but for the most part everybody in that town is fucking nuts.

Tell me about it, my girlfriends friend from high school got stabbed to death last night in her apartment in SB.

thats simply not true a lot is random but most murders go unsolved out here but a lot of those unsolved murders lead bac to gangs. outta the killings out here i think 7 or 8 were random 6 or 7 were known to be gang related and the rest arent prolly gonna get solved anytime soon. im out hete 24/7 tho trust me when i say the gangs got it turned up out this way its been that way since i can remember.

If all someone has to go by are police reports, then I'd advise them to take those with a grain of salt. The SBPD is well known for not only manipulating and concealing crime stats but also for misreporting cases. There have been several cases this year that were deemed unknown or not gang related which are in fact and without a shadow of a doubt, gang related. 

Also, as dstrm mentioned, the majority of them remain unsolved (San Bernardino has the highest rate of unsolved cases in the region and one of the highest in the country).

Gang related deaths are very much lower now then they were during San Bernardino's worst times in the 80's and 90's, but that's a nationwide trend. 

A lot of the shit that happens in S.B. is completley random and not gang related though. A Disheveled society, a terrible lack of jobs, poverty,  poor education, bad city governance and an incompetent police department are to blame.

It all goes hand in hand.

Domestic violence causes gang violence. Kids growing up in a violent household where drug and alcohol abuse is common are not only far more likely to join a gang but also more likely to be more violent and unstable period. 

The young women stabbed to death last night will leave behind two young children so what kind of anger will be instilled in these kids as they grow up not having their mother and knowing she was murdered? The cycle repeats.

Great points. Violence begets violence more often than not, and these types of incidents probably contribute more to the gang/crime problem than even some of the more common reasons, generational gang ties, growing ipin gang neighborhoods, etc.

Those who come from backgrounds of abuse, witness of traumatic events during child hood or similar occurences, are probably several times more likley to develop drug problems or become involved in criminal lifestyles.

I believe there are studies that support this as well.

Just found out I went to school wit that girl and it really wasn't gang related her ex is just crazy....smh

Both of yaw are right but I can tell you that MANY of the murders out here are committed by bangers whether or not its gang related.  Sorry about your loss or your girls loss senseless murders aren't cool and I get the feeling that many love to hear about a murder so it can boost a city's reputation but that shit is booboo.
