POLICE DEPARTMENT
· The Crime Suppression Unit hosted on Friday, October 16 a multiagency
gang sweep of the oldest, largest, most active gang in the City
of Montclair, "Monte Clara Rifa Locos." Thirty-one Officers participated
in the operation from Chino, Montclair, Ontario, and Upland Police
Departments; State Parole and Probation; and San Bernardino County
Sheriff’s Office.
The operation netted 18 arrests—over half were felonies. Discovered
was a suspected methamphetamine lab in the 10100 block of
Geneva Avenue; the WESTNET task force responded and has taken over
that investigation.
The Pinebrook Apartments building was one of the main focuses, and
the Police Department’s presence was made. An assault on a Peace
Officer by an apartment resident resulted in an arrest. We had one foot
pursuit and no use of force issues, other than suspects being taken to
the ground. There were no injuries during the operation; however, one
arrestee was admitted to the hospital due to high blood sugar.
It has been five years since the City of Montclair hosted a sweep this
large. The great turnout and successful night exceeded the
expectations of the organizer, Sergeant Brian Ventura.
