16yr old shot in funtucky

A 16-year-old boy was taken to a hospital Thursday afternoon, June 21, after he was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim, who was not identified, was walking with friends just after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Randall and Alder avenues when a vehicle pulled up and the occupants asked them where they were from, Fontana police said in a news release.

One of the occupants showed the group a handgun and they began running, police said. At least one shot was fired, hitting the victim in the leg.

A vehicle with several passengers was stopped nearby, but police are still trying to determine if the occupants were those involved in the shooting.

No update was available on the medical condition of the boy who was shot.
