Man shot in San Bernardino on Monday
A man was shot several times on San Bernardino's Westside this morning.

San Bernardino police received a call shortly before 4 a.m. regarding a man lying on a street who said he'd been shot, said police Lt. Paul Williams.

Police arrived in the 1200 block of West Victoria Street and found Sergio Edward Vega, 21, of San Bernardino suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Initial reports from police indicated the man had been shot eight times, but investigators haven't confirmed that amount.

They discovered Vega had actually been shot in the 1200 block of West Seventh Street and ran about a block before he collapsed.

Paramedics took him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where he underwent surgery and was listed in critical but stable condition.

A team from the department's homicide division came to the scene due to the severity of the man's wounds.

Police have not determined a motive in the shooting and only know that multiple people fired handguns at Vega. It is unknown if those people were on foot or fired from a vehicle.
