80 year old shoots at group involved in fight with son

SAN BERNARDINO >> An 80-year-old man suffered minor injuries Saturday after shooting at a group of people near F and 14th streets in San Bernardino, police said.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of F Street for reports of shots fired shortly after 2 p.m.

Authorities believe the man drove down the street from his home with a rifle searching for people who were allegedly involved in a fist-fight with his son Friday night, said Lt. Rich Lawhead.

He shot at a group of people near who then returned fire, striking his red truck at least twice. The man was transported to an area hospital with superficial wounds from glass that shattered in the shooting, police said.

It was not immediately clear how many people were in the group he attacked or who shot back at him.

Police arrested the unidentified man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Lawhead said.

The incident is under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
