American Zombie asked? When did that kind of violence become the norm in Mexico? I mean you hear about children being murdered over there. When did that become “acceptable” way of handling beefs and scores? Or has it always been that way?

Well, it started to creep in unchecked this past decade+ since the ramped up deportations and people landing here already too indoctrinated in the us ways, well, they dont want to go back south, so the stay here in this border city, that contributes big time to the spike in crime in the central sectors of the city, but then when you fan up into the un-ending colonias/barrios up in the un-ending hills, ravines and canyons, that's where you get into the real neighborhood street gang gunslingers, like over at my old dogg who lives way the fuck out in this far-flung colonia/naighborhood, in which the police once built a sub-station and the crazies from the hood burned the building down, so, no police, the gun and is the law out there.

Then, there's your felonies family issues like in any other urban metropolis where little family problems end up in tragedies, which is also a more common thing that's happening more on the regular too, crazy how the family structure is breaking down -  down here in this city. And then of course you have the local cartel "cliques" with their politics., now that one right there is the one where you need to be really careful, because that one can touch you anywhere and at anytime. but it ain't the big dogs doing it, nah, its all the local tribes chiefs who duke it out for control of the neighborhood or sectors, and those beefs right there constantly spill out wherever they run into each other, anywhere. That's the one where people get caught in the middle, you know.

And, well, you know that down here everybody is very mobile, nobody is static, so it happens left and right, run ins day in, night out. bang bang daily.

The number of homicides is over the 1,000 mark already, the vast majority of those homicides have been committed with a firearm, this in a country where it is illegal to own/possess a gun. A large number of the murders are attributed to the war for the narcomenudeo (local markets) between the Sinaloa Cartel cliques, against the Tijuana Cartel allied with the Jalisco Cartel.

Most of the casualties are individuals between 25 and 35 years of age. Women making up 10% of the homicides.  The daily average is 4-5 murders a day, and most of them committed in daylight and in plain public sight, with only 10% of the murderers caught and brought to justice, mainly the ones having to do with family crimes of passion and such, but few if any dealing with the criminal gangs of all sorts.

It bums me out to hear about such tragedies. Mexico is such a beautiful place. Why’s there so much anger and hatred? Is it in the DNA or something. My moms side is from Juarez and she always talks about wanting to take us to visit her old neighborhood they lived in when they were born.. but I hear so much fucked up shit and seen too many documentaries. I don’t know, I might pass on all that.

mexico i've come to realize was never that peaceful paradise once termed "mexico lindo," it was a lie, there has always been uprisings, rebellions, protests, crime and violence in mexico, just like in any other country.

this article from the union tribune and the artwork is basically on point as to the violence, but as is the custom and tradition of baja and tijuana authorities, well, they dismiss it all as "fake news" and don't want to see those tourist dollars disappear.
