Attempt Homicide Arrest of ESR Gang Member
Riverside Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting occurring on
January 13, 2009. In this incident 3 males were walking their dog, in the vicinity of
Seventh St. and Chicago Ave at approximately 2200 hours, when a vehicle
approached them from behind. A male subject fired several shots striking two of the
three males and killing the dog.
While investigating this incident, Police Gang Investigators were able to identify
Ignacio Chavez, 31 years old, of Riverside as a suspect.
On January 26, 2009, Chavez was arrested by patrol personnel for an unrelated
warrant. Gang investigators interviewed Chavez and later booked him into the
Robert Presley Detection Center for 3 counts of Attempted Murder, participation in a
criminal street gang and other miscellaneous charges. Chavez is one of 114 ESR
gang members that had been previously served with a permanent gang injunction
by the District Attorney in 2007.
