It's a good flick straight up....it's about nortenos, but it's still a good movie, highly recommended...and in surround sound, banging.....

I am going to have to get back to ya on this one, but a recent viewing of THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR starring Pierce Brosnan has a killer score but I really got hung-up on one track SINNERMAN by Nina Simone. Must have rewound that track ten straight times while watching this DVD.

'Pulp Fiction' has a killer soundtrack, that's a Q.Tarentino flick......I always wanted to go to Jack rabbit slims!!!!....

Oh, and how about Ennio Morricone scores for the Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns, A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West, and Duck You Sucker.

In fact, Italian composers make up quite list and to hear this brilliant music accompanying these low budget Italian cinema such as Gialli (Italian for "yellow" for the yellow covered dimestore novels that inspired the Italian slasher/thrillers) and spaghetti westerns is amazing.

In fact, maybe I should open a western movie thread I don't know. But one of my all time favorite westerns is Leone's epic western Once Upon A Time In the West, and Leone famous for creating these elaborately artistic foregrounds and backgrounds in his long shots (ie the opening scenes of OUATITW at the train station, his use of foreground and background in relation juxtaposed placement of the actors). Sergio Leone created frames like a painter literally he got the most of frames with artistic precision. He made gorgeous low budget westerns with killer Morricone soundtracks and sparse panoramas, and unglamourized sudden instant blood-drenched violence.

But back to Once Upon A Time In The West, composer Ennio Morricone composed a theme score for each character whenever they made their entrance or re-entrance into the story. There are four main characters bandit Cheyenne (Jason Robards), Harmonica (Charles Bronson), ex-whore now mail order bride Jill McBain (Claudia Cardinale), and the villain Frank (portrayed brilliantly by steely blue-eyed Henry Fonda in a rare villain role). But atop of these four theme scores Ennio Morricone, near the end of the film, melds all four theme scores together into a single rockin score for the climatical duel between Harmonica and Frank which includes a flashback that reveals Harmonica's relationship with Frank and the object of Harmonica's revenge. I must have worn out my VHS copy from rewinding over and over again to that duel back in the day. Check it out.

A few others to mention, 'The Ten Commandments', 'Ben-Hur', 'Spartacus'....what happened to the days of composing....unlike popular soundtracks, you can't really bump these, but it's a good break from the norm......'The Magnificent 7', classic....

John Carpenter composes great scores like Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, Escape From New York, Christine, Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Yeah, good movie. Speaking of mob movies, Goodfellas, Casino, had some classic soundtracks.

I loved the soundtrack from Fast Times At Ridgemont High for it's classic rock. Judge Reinhold's masturbating on the toilet to Phoebe Cates incredible tits and The Cars "Moving In Stereo" is a classic scene.
