San Bernardino man arrested in connection to Fontana homicide

FONTANA -- San Bernardino County sheriff's detectives are investigating a homicide in an unincorporated area of Fontana.

Deputies responded to the 14000 block of Bamboo Court Thursday morning around 1:30 a.m. after several calls to 9-1-1 saying a shooting had taken place.

The victim, Richard Thompson, 20 of Fontana, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel, according to sheriff's spokeswoman, Cindy Bachman.

Following their investigation, sheriff's homicide detectives arrested Damon James Anker Challoner, 19 of San Bernardino, in connection to the slaying.

Challoner was booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino Thursday night and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail.

Rest in peace to Richard. Barely knew him but he will be missed.
