shooting in ontario

man is dead and another was wounded after gunfire rang out at an Ontario apartment complex this morning, in what police are saying is a gang-related incident.

Witnesses say they heard around 30 gunshots around 7 a.m. at the Fairview Apartments at 555 NW 9th Avenue in Ontario.

When police arrived they found two men had been shot.

The two men who were shot are brothers Rudy and Gonzalo Mata. Both are from Ontario.

Rudy was transported by ambulance to Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario where he died from his injuries.

His brother Gonzalo was taken to the same hospital to be treated and released into police custody for discharging a firearm.

Just before 5 p.m. police arrested Amando Torres Jr., 25, of Ontario. He was booked into the Malheur County Jail and is charged with first-degre murder and attempted murder.

Investigators tell us they know Torres fired shots during this morning's altercation, but are still not sure if he is responsible for the shots that struck the Mata brothers.

Police are still looking for another person of interest in this case, but that person has not been located.

Ontario Police Capt. Mark Alexander says it's still early in the investigation, but says at this point they know the shooting is gang-related.

"There was a gathering of individuals. It is a gang related incident that resulted in that shooting," said Alexander.

Police say there was another shooting at this apartment complex three years ago.

You sure IXE cause Malhuer County is in Oregon and that hospital they mentioned I searched it up and first thing that comes out is Ontario, OR but who heard about that shooting the other day in Onta over on Virginia Ave and Elma crazy shootout

YEAH I WAS CONFUZED ABOUT MALHUER COUNTY LOCK UP TOO, NEVER HEARD OF THAT JAIL. IF THEY WERE BUSTED THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO WEST VALE, NOT ONLY THAT BUT IF IT WAS ON 9TH STREET THAT WOULD BE IN UPLAND.

ABOUT VIRGINIA AND ELMA IT WAS A LAPD SWAT STAND OFF AFTER SOMEONE FROM ONTERIO WENT TO SOUTH LA AND KIDNAPED SOMEONE...THEY HAD LA SWAT AND ONTA SWAT ALL OVER THE AREA FOR HOURS DIDNT KNOW IT TURN INTO A SHOT OUT THO...THERE WAS A SHOT OUT IN SOUTH ONTA ON HOLT AND SAN ANTONIO IN THE SUPERIOR MARKET WHEN AN UNDERCOVER OPEN FIRE ON SOME FOOL AND ON MOUNTAIN AVE RIGHT BEFOR PHILLIPS ST. IN SOUTH ONTA SOME METH LAB IN A HOME BLEW UP .

Yeah about that incident in Virginia my homie stays on Grove and Elma he told me there was bullet shells all over the street and cops had all that area on lockdown
