Warrants served in murder of suspected Hell's Angels associate

Indio police served search warrants today at three San Bernardino County locations in connection with the slaying of a Yucca Valley man associated with the Hell's Angels.

The body of 41-year-old John Rocco Vanderstine, who had been shot in the
head, was found in Indio the morning of Feb. 2, off of Avenue 42 and west of
Madison Street, police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

He said information developed during the investigation regarding Vanderstine's associates led Indio police detectives, along with SWAT teams from the San Bernardino police and sheriff's departments, to execute warrants in the following locations:

- the 1900 block of Medical Center Drive at a Hell's Angels clubhouse
in San Bernardino;
- the 5100 block of Vall Lane in San Bernardino; and
- the 26600 block of Sparks Street in Highland.

Detectives continue to seek evidence related to the shooting death, Guitron said.
"We're investigating the victim's association with the Hell's Angels and how he ended up in Indio," he said.

Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them.
