FONTANA >> Only a few months after being released from jail for a drug charge, a known gang member was charged Tuesday with allegedly shooting at several people, cars and homes the day after Thanksgiving, court records and Fontana Police officials said.

Christian Flores, 22, of Fontana is scheduled to be in West Valley Superior Court in Rancho Cucamonga Thursday to answer to charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a dangerous weapon, a violation of the terms of his probation.

On the evening of Nov. 25, Fontana police officers were in the area of Valencia and Bennett avenues on routine patrol when they reportedly watched a man, later identified as Flores, firing a handgun toward houses, cars and some people. No one was struck by the gunfire, officials said.

When Flores noticed the officers approaching him, he allegedly jumped into a waiting car and drove off, according to a police statement.

During the short pursuit, the fleeing vehicle was involved in two hit-and-run crashes.

When the car pulled over, Flores and others in the vehicle ran off but were found a short time later hiding in the area of Citrus Avenue and Arrow Highway.

Flores and two juveniles were arrested. Flores was booked into West Valley Detention Center, and the minors were taken to Juvenile Hall.

Flores was recently released from San Bernardino County jail after he had been sentenced in July to a year in jail on a drug offense, court records show. It's unclear how much of his sentence he served before he was released prior to the November shooting.

Flores is expected to be in court today for a probation revocation hearing, records indicate.

A motive for November's shooting was not released.

Hoods are definitely gunning for each other.
