Teenager snatched £40,000 in raid
A teenage father has admitted robbing two security guards of £40,000 in cash.
Masked Christopher McGovern, 19, pounced as the men were re-filling a cashpoint at a store in Glasgow's Gallowgate last November.
McGovern, who pointed what was thought to be a gun at the men, was caught after his fingerprints were found on a cardboard box lying in a doorway.
He pled guilty to assault and robbery and was remanded in custody until sentencing later this month.
The High Court in Glasgow heard how security guards Matthew Clifford and David Fotheringham had called at East End Newsagents in the city's Stevenson Street on 1 November last year with cash for an ATM.
McGovern, who had been loitering nearby, followed them in and then pointed what appeared to be a gun at them.
Balaclava found
The father-of-one, who was 18 at the time, repeatedly swore at the man, demanding that they hand over the money.
He then snatched two security boxes with £40,000 inside and ran off.
Police were called and McGovern was recognised from CCTV footage.
When officers called at his home in Green Street, Calton, they found items including the balaclava he had worn during the raid.
Andrew Miller, prosecuting, said the security guards were so traumatised by the incident that they gave up their jobs.
Andrew Paton, 17, had also been accused of the theft but instead pled guilty to being in possession of a sawn-off shotgun in Crownpoint Road, Gallowgate, on 12 March this year.
The court heard he had been handed the weapon in a black bag an hour earlier and had been looking for somewhere to hide it when he was caught.
Paton was also remanded in custody and will return to court with McGovern.

Media often call Calton Gallowgate because of Gallowgate Rd that runs threw the North of the scheme, Were the incident happened is was nowere near Gallowgate, it was in the heart of the Calton on Stevenson St, and Crownpoint Rd is also in Calton.
