Welcome to the Heights Empty Re: Welcome to the Heights

That's Mike Larry, I can't remember for certain, but I think his pops was one of the original "GTC". This isn't Pomona by the way, and to my knowledge, this is before the formation of GTC in Pomona, which seems to have emerged later with the same name out of pure coincidence and in unrelated events/circumstances.

Now regarding the "GTC"; they have been a long since defunct hood that predated DHB, and had nothing to do with the formation of DHB. Little known fact, but there was a group in DH claiming this hood at that time, around 1978. They formed as a separate entity and never claimed DH, just GTC. Presently, there is only about 5 left, most of whom are in their late 40's. The others have passed away. None are banging. They started in the late 70's and died out by around 1984. Very short lived and were never active as a gang. They never recruited either.

When DHB formed a short time later, crack had helped generate a great momentum for the establishment and brought in lots of recruits so it took off fast, and the GTC who were disbanded and basically gone by this time, couldn't, and never stopped it. So DHB strong armed took over the neighborhood for good.

Despite the fact that it's a dead hood, some of the originals (the ones who still remain) have it inked on their bodies and will still wear blue till this day, but nothing more. All of them are related to peoples from DHB, brothers, sisters, cousins, etc., so it's love.

This is where the myth of there being a "DHC" or that DHB started as Crips came from,. It stemmed from a lack of knowledge regarding the history or simply from confusing certain people they might of seen.

It surprises me to see ML claiming it though, since he's only 30, and as I've mentioned, it's only something a few from that group and time period still claim, but maybe he took after his pops, a bit strange, but ML is solid.

Lol, i like that line in the hook, "...niggas over there dont even come acrooossss theee liiiiight". lol. That song is hella cool and i like how they still got love for the few crip niggas in they hood even though they damu through and through. Thats respect right there. "F-Blocc 2300" was on that GTC's (Slicc Larry's) shirt. Yeah he probably keeping it alive for the next generation to pick up or just to show love to the origins of the hood like he said in the song. Thats good history. I remember that debate about what was what over there in regards to them. Good looking out on clearing that up.

Im wondering how come nobody did a remix to that "hard in the paint" instrumental out here. I was looking forward to that I.E. version when EVERYBODY in LA and up north was jumping on it.

It's MSB niners, not MSG. I know Wise, but he wasn't in the song/video?

Edit: Wait, what's "MGS" a music crew or something? I thought you were talking about the states.

I just noticed too though the other thread says Magnolia Stage Gang (which they do say) so MSG wouldn't of been too far off either?

LOL! Ohhhhh. You're right, that's him at 1:35 for sure, I just noticed that. His hair looks a little longer right there. I thought you meant he was rapping though.

Shit, all I'ver ever heard them claim is MSB, and I've seen them strike up the walls like that too. Unless MSG is some newer or general way of saying it. Same goes for the Gilberts, it's either GSG or GSKG, not GSB though.
