Police arrested a San Bernardino man Wednesday morning, Dec. 5, in connection with the killing of a 45-year-old woman last month.
Shariff Taylor, 34, was arrested in the 2300 block of North Alameda Avenue about 7 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Paul Williams said. That’s two blocks from the place where police say they found the body of the woman he is suspected of killing, identified by the San Bernardino County coroner as 45-year-old Tamra Sue Tingle, of Rialto.
Tingle was found dead at the back of an empty business in the 1100 block of East Highland Avenue near Perris Hill Park on the morning of Nov. 11. Police didn’t know who she was at first, and asked for the public’s help to name her.
Their initial description could have fit lots of women. She was 5-foot-4, 195 pounds with medium-length brown hair and a fair complexion, police said at the time. She wore a short sleeve black top, blue jeans and Ugg-style boots. The only telltale feature was a tattoo of red, blue and yellow triangles that wrapped around her right ankle.
Two days after the discovery of her body, an autopsy determined that she had been murdered.
Contacted by phone Wednesday afternoon, Williams did not immediately disclose a motive for the killing or detail why they arrested Taylor.
