Driver Crashes Into Police Car Fontana

Police arrested a Bloomington man Wednesday after he led an officer on a chase, crashed into a pole and then rammed a police car.
Mario Landa, 19, was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

Fontana police tried to pull over Landa at 10:40 p.m. for traffic violations near the corner of Sierra and Santa Ana avenues. He turned off his headlights, turned right onto Mahogany Drive and struck a light pole.

When the officer pulled up behind the vehicle, Landa put the car in reverse and rammed the police car, police said.


The officer detained Landa until additional officers arrived to assist him.
