U.S. Government Has Official Shutdown

I can honestly say I wasn't expecting this right now. Classic fear-mongering, I thought, and in a way, it still is. And depending on how long this last, the already highly fragile economy may end up taking the brunt of of it all, which could be disastrous. 

Somethings definitely a brewin'.

What does that even mean when they have a shutdown don't really understand this.

Well , it sure doesnt mean that the spy state and all the drones and CIA agents around the world will stop doing their thing or that the president will step down. Lol.

It just means that the government is going to make sure certain things don't get funded or certain checks don't clear for some government employees temporarily but will be paid retroactively when things go back to normal.


The economy is going to crash regardless , my fear is that they will blame this silly "shut down"  for the failed economy but that is so ridiculous. This idea that if this giant government spends just a tiny bit less because it didnt raise the phony debt ceiling is just nonsense. The economy is going to eventually collapse because they they kept raising the debt ceiling for so many years.

Not quite a shut down after all. lol


I suppose if the president and the government decides to default on some of its debt that could spiral into a financial crises real fast. Of course, they don't have to do any of this. It is all just to scare people and create a big scene. They can easily cut spending in a few places and keep the government running. They just want to make it look more dramatic.

And LOL at shutting down all the crap that  costs the least. The national parks and tourists shit. It's all a show.

Yeah it is possible for the markets to get spooked by all this and it can maybe trigger a collapse, but the fact that something like this would cause a collapse is just proof that the economy is a house of cards. A real strong economy with real wealth being created wouldn't be so fragile.

The last time a government shutdown took place was 1996. At that time, under President Bill Clinton the government was shutdown for 21 days.

From what I understand Obama wants everyone on Obamacare

The republicans wanted to negotiate for a deal to make changes to Obama care, and In Exchange they would vote to pass the new budget and avoid the shut down. Obama refused to negotiate any deal to make changes to Obama care so both sides allowed the shut down to happen. 

Politically I think this was a mistake for the Republicans because no matter what they will be painted as the Villians here so they should've just let Obama care pass and let the democrats own it.

they dont want to "change" it, they want to defund it and get rid of it entirely.

Nah, it depends which republicans your talking about. Most of them gave up on getting rid of it along time ago. I think officially towards the end they were going to delay it by a few years, and I know some of them like Rand Paul in the senate wanted to make a deal to "make it less bad" it his words. They know it's too late to get rid of it now.


A lot of these newer republicans in congress were specifically elected to office in 2010 to repeal obama care. So they have to appear to their constituency that they're doing something to fight against it, even if it's all theatrics. 


I wish it were true, I wish they would be able to get rid of it completely, but with an actual alternative plan. Instead of just getting rid of it and calling it a win or getting rid of it and passing some other law for another bad system. The problem is the republicans don't know or care about real economics just like the Democrats, so it's all noise and rhetoric.

Lol so much for getting rid of obama care.


last I read, the republicans wanted obama to agree on delaying obama care for one year plus get rid of a medical device tax or some other petty tax cut. Woopty fucking doo. All this noise about shutting down (a small portion) of the government over that?
