Some initial observations:

- The Sword were bad ass and deserved a longer set. Sabbath-style jams that make you want to smoke a bowl.
- Lamb Of God are boring as fuck and love the cock. They looked/sounded like they were from OC, but I guess they're from Richmond, VA. How is this band so popular? Shit was weak.

Metallica started with a couple new songs and then played "Ride The Lightning" and "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (Robert Trujillo did a cool bass solo at the beginning). Musically, they were on point. Some older stuff was played:

Blackened
One
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Master Of Puppets
Whiplash
Seek And Destroy

They also covered "Stone Cold Crazy". Ever since the Black album, I pretty much wrote them off. I think Robert Trujillo brought back something that was missing. Probably because he has more of a punk background (he used to play bass for Suicidal Tendencies). We went mainly because we won tickets, but I'm glad we went. The new arena in Ontario is a good venue. Every seat is a good seat. I think it's pretty cool we have a place like that in Ontario now.

I dig their reggae jams, especially I And I Survive.

This one kinda reminded me of Clockwork Orange, how he's strapped into the chair and forced to watch videos.

Mostly with the early bands. The late 70's was disco and weak music that never really spoke about things you dealt with on a daily basis. Bands like The Clash and the Sex Piostols were more like protest music in a way, talking about things that were wrong with the government and society. L.A. bands took it a step further, especially bands like Black Flag and The Stains. Shows would end up getting teargassed by riot cops and teenage kids were manhandled, simply because of their style of dress and the lyrics of their music.

I recommend watching two videos:

Sex Pistols - The Filth & The Fury
The Decline Of Western Civilization (L.A. movie from 1980)

I'm sure you can find both on Youtube.

Regarding what bands to check out, I've got a Mediafire account. Go into my folder and grab some music.

Dr. Know - Best Of
Black Flag - First Four Years and Damaged
Poison Idea - all
Stains - s/t
DRI - Dealing With It

I also have Suicidal Tendencies first demo on there.

Seeing The Smiths, The Cure, and D-Mode, here is a rather sinister lil melody from a Goth band

Bauhaus - Stigmata Martyr (fans of "Night of the Demons" will recall this song during Angela's demon dance)

David Bowie - Putting Out Fire With Gasoline *Cat People* (fan vid with An Interview With A Vampire clips)

Robin Trower, nice. He had an album called BLT with Jack Bruce from Cream that was pretty good.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The only Uriah Heep I've heard is Demons & Wizards. I'll have to look into their other stuff.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Jeff Beck.

Early Rod Stewart is good, especially with the Faces.

And finally some Kinks.
