Yea thats the craziest wacking in any mob movie, when they get buried still breathing..lol..and it was based on the true story.

I also like The Sopranos. Its was a tv show but its really like a long ass movie if you watch every show.

No shit! Most these films get way too preachy and if they don't get preachy they get too Hollywood actiony.

American Me did a pretty good job but the acting is spotty and fantasy bits were way over the top like Santana/Cadena juvie raping and subsequent repressed homosexuality/sexual impotencies, the homosexual raping and assassination of the Mafioso bosses son, Cadena/Santana getting killed by his La Eme underlings when in reality he was killed by Nuestra Familia members, Morgan/JD getting his leg blown off by a local shop owner when in reality it was the cops shot his leg off, and I don't believe Cadena/Morgan came from the same hood IIRC, they weren't young homies on the streets i could be wrong on this last point. But that's Hollywood, they butcher history. I believe the writers and Olmos' intentions were to give the film cautionary dimensions a la "heavy handed crime doesn't pay message because this can happen or that can happen to you!" La Eme of course didn't take this lightly and some deaths were involved.

Oh btw, I found Boulevard Nights on the YT

But as mentioned by other posters, Scorsese's biopic Goodfellas murdered all other gangster films for pure grittiness and realism. I love his other gangster films Mean Streets and Casino as well.

I have been meaning to, directed by Michael Mann "Heat", "Manhunter", "Thief" and television's Miami Vice. Tho it looks absolutely Hollywood it is a Michael Mann action film afterall.

Yeah, its good stuff, I liked it.

They left a lot of stuff out & changed some things. If they had stayed true to the real story, it would've been better. Read the wiki on Dillinger and you'll see what I mean.
