The Fontana Meat Bandit

A transient tried to steal 13 pounds of meat from a Fontana supermarket on Tuesday.
Fontana police arrested Jared Wilson, 22, on suspicion of robbery.

Police said Wilson walked into the El Super Market at 16950 Foothill Blvd. at 12:08 p.m. and stuffed about 13 pounds of meat inside his jacket.

When Wilson tried to leave without paying, an employee confronted him and asked him to return the meat, police said.

Wilson tried to get away by punching the employee, but several employees detained him until police arrived. The employee who was struck, a 32-year-old Riverside man, was not hospitalized in the attack.
