Two women kidnapped last week by gang members were found safe Tuesday and 13 San Bernardino gang members and associates were arrested for the crime, authorities said.
An anonymous tip prompted San Bernardino County sheriff's Gang Impact Team to spend three days searching for the women. They served the warrant at 6 a.m. Tuesday to a Genevieve apartment.
An 18-year-old woman was found bound in a closet. A 30-year-old woman was being held against her will at a location officials declined to reveal.
Both women were intimidated and threatened but were physically unharmed, officials said.
The motive for the kidnapping wasn't released Wednesday but officials said it was "directly related to gang operations."
Thirteen members of associates of the West Side Verdugo street gang were taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping and false imprisonment with a gang enhancement.
Albert "Laughing Boy" Gutierrez, 36; Daniel "Psycho" Mendivil, 29; and Dellaery Limon, 26, were booked into the Central Detention Center with bails ranging up to $1 million.
Angelica Romero, 32, was booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga with a $1 million bail.
