Re: What you listening to right now...
Lately I've been checking out Santana's albums with John McLaughlin, who previously had worked with Miles Davis on In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew. Early Santana is cool, but I really think he came into his own in the early 70's. Probably the most after the third album. The public didn't really respond very well to this work, mainly because it had some technical jams and didn't have any radio hits. But regardless of that, McLaughlin brought jazz's freedom of expression to the table and really helped Santana step up his game.
This mostly resulted from my uncle loaning me a vinyl copy of Santana III a while back. I had heard Santana before, but not really. You tend to remember certain songs or albums that your parents or other family members would play when you were younger. Being younger, you tended not to really understand it as much. But as you get older and revisit some of that music, you tend to respect it a little more. That's why our parents, uncles, etc. will always have an advantage over us because they grew up in a time when there was a lot more class and style. That's what I think at least.

Not a huge lyracists or anything like that, but I like Styles P, probably my favorite rapper from New York. Dude spits some grimy ass shit. From being homeless on the streets to making it big from rap. Rags to riches. That song MY LIFE is the shit.

Re: What you listening to right now...
Its a sample, meaning that they only use certain parts of the original song not necessarily the same exact thing. The only difference is that the beat from that video you posted has a slower tone to it. All those beats regardless come from that whodini song.
Re: What you listening to right now...
I knew it had been sampled many times, I just thought that them cats just jumped on a beat previously used by another rapper, like many unsigned rappers do.
