Shooting at Gucci concert
A fight at a hip hop concert escalated into a shooting outside Stinger's Bar and Nightclub early Sunday, leaving two Highland men wounded.
San Bernardino police came to the club at 194 W. Club Center Drive at 1:54 a.m. on a report of a fight and shots fired.
"A fight broke out among a lot of people, and at some point someone pulled a gun and started shooting," said San Bernardino police Lt. Jarrod Burguan.
Both victims - ages 24 and 25 - were taken to hospitals by friends. The younger man suffered a wound to his left arm and the other had graze wounds to his head and abdomen.
The men told police they don't know who shot them.
A large crowd of people who had attended a Gucci Mane concert in the venue was scattering when police arrived. No one was in custody in the shooting.
Stinger's officials said the shooting occurred outside the club, and that they've never had a shooting inside the venue.
The event, which began about 8 p.m., drew close to 400 people to the club, said David Gomez, one of the club's owners.
"We had no problem whatsoever until that incident," Gomez said.
Stinger's had at least 30 security guards working inside and outside the venue. Between 100 and 150 people who came to the club but couldn't get inside for the concert remained in the parking lot.
Gomez said concertgoers pass through two checkpoints before they get into the venue. They are given a pat down and guards use security wands to detect weapons.
The owner said a small
fight began inside the club as the show was winding down. Participants in that brawl were removed from the club at different times.
Gomez said he doesn't know if the people involved in the shooting were also involved in the earlier fight.
