That kind of offensive scheme is effective, but only for certain types of teams. It's obviously not meshed well within this team (high scoring means nothing without a W) and the fact that they've lost the past 9 games, with or without their key players, speaks volumes.
Mike Brown needs to stop insisting that this offense is correct for the team, it's not. The only player(s) that are truly flourishing with this set-up is Pau and anybody in the power forward position.
But you're right, the offense isn't even the sole problem here, it's also their defense. It's been god awful these past several games. Something is wrong here, terribly wrong and it needs fixing. To say that the Lakers are underachieving right now would be an understatement. I think they'll eventually work out the kinks, but only if they can remain healthy.
Nash is already suffering from a bruised knee, and Howard is the biggest liability on this team with his back problems.
