Man who was allegedly prowling in Fontana neighborhood is arrested

A man who was allegedly prowling in a local neighborhood was arrested on Sept. 16, according to the Fontana Police Department.

At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Chantry and Upland avenues regarding a call involving a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, they found an unoccupied car, with the engine running, partially blocking the driveway of a residence in the 8700 block of Chantry. One of the officers recognized the vehicle from a previous call earlier in the year involving a prowler.

The officers set up surveillance on the vehicle and after just a few moments, a man who was later identified as Robert Romero, a 26-year-old resident of Fontana, ran out of the shadows from nearby toward the vehicle.

The officers attempted to contact him; however, he would not comply and struggled with the officers. After detaining Romero, the investigation revealed that he had been allegedly prowling in the area and had possibly been looking into windows of a residence nearby, police said.


Romero was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for allegedly resisting a police officer with force and prowling.
