nba rumors etc
* Despite a few reports to the contrary, the Lakers aren’t looking to move forward Lamar Odom. Lakers insiders say the team would prefer to keep the lineup intact and see what happens with a healthy Andrew Bynum at center. They feel that’s all they’ll need to win a championship.
* Instead, the Lakers will likely try to sign a veteran who can come off the bench without trading one of their key parts. They are said to be looking at free agents such as Eduardo Najera (Denver), Bonzi Wells (New Orleans) and James Posey, who just helped Boston beat L.A. for the title.

Re: nba rumors etc
Sounds pretty good. I didnt want to see them trade anyone to be honest. I hope we dont get Najera, as I dont see how he could help. Bonzi Wells is alright, but he fits in good with NO. Posey to the Lakers? Rite after he just won the ring with Boston? Why would he want to leave that? seems unlikely. Where is Ron Artest!!!??
Re: nba rumors etc

Re: nba rumors etc
The Lakers NEED Odom to even be close to winning the ring, the dude has major talent, and I cant see the Lakers getting close to have a season like this years with out him. They wont trade Odom. Mithc Kupcheck is a smart man. I think the team will stay intact and they will pursue a veteran player to add more experience. Marion will not leave Miami because no one will accomodate his contract better than the Heat will. Thats why he agreed with the Shaq trade and Opted out for Phoenix because the Suns didn't meet his needs.
Re: nba rumors etc
I HAVE NEVER BEEN A BIG ODOM FAN...
HES VERY INCONSISTENT...AND HE SEEMS CONTENT JUST BEING A LAKER AND THE ATTENTION THAT COMES WITH IT...
HE HAS NO 3 POINT SHOOTING...HE DOESNT SHOOT WELL...AND HE IS A LAYUP MISSING MACHINE...

Re: nba rumors etc
I have to disagree lol. Although he can be passive and very inconsistent he has came along way since his infant days as a Laker. He surprised me most of this year, and I dont think the Lakers could have managed with out his rebounding game.
Re: nba rumors etc
Building a championship quality team is all about fitting pieces together like a puzzle. Look how the Bulls when they acquired rodman played all that out. At first glance he resembled a clown more so than a basketball player, and although he couldnt really even shoot the ball or pass or much of anything he was a rebounding machine that eventually managed to propell the bulls back to the champion ship. This is how I view Odom. As a key piece to what the Lakers need.

when he wants to be...hes a GREAT player...
but the inconsistency gets to me...i dont know...maybe when he moves to SF he will improve with bynum...pau etc in the line up...
but there has been alot of buzz about moving him...so i wuldnt completely rule out the possibility

Re: nba rumors etc
"ESPN radio reported that the Lakers and Heat are in talks that would trade Lamar Odom and the #58 pick to Miami. In exchange the Heat would trade to the Lakers Mark Blount, Udonis Haslem and Miami's coveted #2 pick in the draft. Rumor has it Riley is trying to clear cap space as much as he can, and wants Odom back in the fold."

Re: nba rumors etc
LOL. I'm sure Kupcheck or the Lakers staff would take that offer as an insult. Mark Blount? LOL!
Re: nba rumors etc
Odom may not have a really good shot but he helps the lakers alot defensively Lakers will really need next season but i due think that Lakers should get rid of Walton and Mihm for a veteran player whose NBA Experience will help the Lakers to win that title and Bynum and Ariza being healthy will definetly be a factor on the Lakers winning it all next year Lakers will improve alot next year with Bynum and Ariza coming back especially defensively and because the Lakers will have more help defensively with there comebacks they will need Lamar to do what he was doing all season long and get a good 15 pts and 10 rebs per game that will help alot for the Lakers next year and Mitch Kupcheck is problably the smartest General Manager in the NBA so he will never get rid of a player like Odom for players with less talent than Lamar.

* Kahn: Offseason rumor mill churns
A day after surprisingly opting out of the final year of his Golden State Warriors contract, Baron Davis agreed Tuesday to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Davis, a Los Angeles native, is expected to sign a five-year deal worth around $65 million, Davis' agent told the Times.
The Clippers can't announce any deals until July 9 when next year's salary cap is determined.
Davis walked away from a guaranteed $17.8 million next year, choosing free agency over another season with the Warriors.
The Clippers have salary-cap room because two of their players, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, opted out of the final year of their contracts. To sign Davis, the Clippers likely will renounce their rights to Maggette. They still are expected to try to re-sign Brand, but for less than the $16.4 million he was owed next season.
Davis played in all 82 games last season for the Warriors, averaging 21.8 points and 7.6 assists.
The Clippers also declined to offer injured point guard Shaun Livingston a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent. But they still may try to re-sign him, according to the Times.
