gang injunction to be announced in SB county

SAN BERNARDINO - The District Attorney plans to announce the filing of San Bernardino County's first gang injunction this afternoon.

San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael A. Ramos did not reveal which gang would be the subject of the injunction.

Gang injunctions typically bar gang members from gathering in certain areas and taking part in gang-related activities.

It's a deterrent that has proven effective in Los Angeles, where injunctions have been issued against members of more than 30 gangs whose territories span 60 square miles of the city. In 1992, about 60 to 70 percent of the 1,000 Los Angeles murders were deemed gang related. That number fell to 487 murders in 2005, and about half were attributed to gangs, Los Angeles police officers have said.

First gang injunction in the county?? What are they talking about? The first ever was 7th street in 1997. And when the millenium hit in 2001 everyone else got hit in San Bernardino. The city.

Man, these courts are going crazy with these gang injunctions now. their even doing one against some varrio in cathedral city.

i saw that shit in the news in the morning. they said it was the first one in sb county history too.

Its a very ignorant thing to say. To say the least. Sounds like someone gave the message for a cover up to make it look better for the county. There is atleast several gangs in the city of San Bernardino that have a legit court ordered injunction on them. In the city of San Bernardino alone. I'm not sure about the other cities.
