Magnesium is the body's most important mineral. Over the past 100 years, magnesium has become the most depleted mineral on earth.

Low magnesium levels have been found to be the best predictor of heart disease, contrary to the traditional belief that cholesterol or saturated fat play the biggest roles.

Research scientist Andrea Rosanoff, PhD., and her colleagues conducted a detailed review of cardiovascular disease research, using studies dating back to 1937. The current review is based upon work that was started by Midred Seelig, MD, who studied the link between magnesium and cardiovascular disease for more than 40 years.

Previous research has revealed low magnesium to be linked with all known cardiovascular risk factors like:

high blood pressure
arterial plaque build-up
calcification of soft tissues
cholesterol
hardening of the arteries

This implies that the real culprit of cardiovascular disease has been low magnesium levels, while historically, experts have blamed a high-saturated fat diet and high cholesterol.

Magnesium is one of the few supplements I take pretty much everyday since it is hard to get enough of it in food. I think pretty much everybody should take magnesium daily. It really does make a big difference in preventing all sorts of health problems. And a lot of new info is coming out on "Vitamin K2", which I think can really go a long way. Probably post something on it later.

For those who aren't familiar with this mineral, and If for whatever reason you can't take the supplements, which should be either magnesium citrate, gylcinate, taurate or aspartate as they're what the body can absorb the most, then you can also take Espom salt baths since Magnesium can absorbed through the skin as well.  Or If you live near clean ocean water, a daily swim will provide you with all the magnesium your body needs. Don't bother with Magnesium oxide, since it won't be absorbed by the body as well, and usually just acts like a laxative more than anything.
