Magnitude-6.9 Earthquake Strikes Off of Northern California Coast

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.9 struck off of the Northern California coast Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck about 10:18 p.m. and was centered about 50 miles west of Eureka, the USGS reported.


Several smaller earthquakes occurred in the area after the initial large quake, according to the USGS.


The earthquake was felt across Northern California — including as far south as the Bay Area — and in southern Oregon, the USGS reported.


There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.


The National Tsunami Warning Center had not issued any watches or warning as of late Sunday night, according to the center’s website

I felt a few earthquakes last week. Didn't check where they were centered from.

I think that one was centered in Fontana somewhere. I felt it too.
