Fontana man shot to death 6/25/16

A 33-year-old man was shot to death while walking down a street in Fontana in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 25, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner's Division.
The victim was heading westbound on the north side of the street in the 17500 block of Merrill Avenue, near Tamarind Avenue in eastern Fontana, at 1:39 a.m.
After words were exchanged with occupant(s) in a moving vehicle, shots were fired and the pedestrian sustained upper body trauma, the Coroner's Division said.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the location at 1:49 and the victim was pronounced deceased at 1:52 a.m.
The Fontana Police Department is investigating the incident.
This was the second homicide in Fontana this month. Another shooting death was reported on June 11 in western Fontana. In addition, a shooting took place on June 9, and the victim in that incident was hospitalized in critical condition.
