mongol bust
theyve been making a really big deal about this shit in the news today,
Federal authorities are taking down what they perceive to be an outlaw motorcycle gang, with roots in Redlands, Corona, San Jacinto, Ontario and Hesperia.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives raided homes throughout California and six other states to serve arrest warrants on the Mongols Motorcycle Club for a federal racketeering indictment.
ATF Agents arrived at multiple addresses at 5 a.m., including one home on Orange Street in Redlands. Agents knocked in a deadbolt door to wake Rafael Lozano who was wanted on arrest warrant connecting him to the club.
Agents ransacked the Victorian house, where they recovered one gun and ammunition. Agents, Redlands police and San Bernardino County sheriff and probation also found inoperable motorcycle parts and clothing paraphernalia related to the club.
Lozano was taken to the West Valley Detention Center, while other suspects will be processed in Montebello.
Agents have been investigating the club for several months in other regions such as Las Vegas and Colorado.
The ATF will release details of the indictment this afternoon with the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles.
In June the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Temecula police made several arrests after they claimed Mongols members wreaked havoc on Interstate 15, by pulling off stunts and closing parts of the freeway en route to a rally in San Diego.
The Mongols leader at the time said they were being unfairly pursued by police for a club gathering that was not illegal.

Judge bans Mongols from wearing, selling logo

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge on Wednesday barred the Mongols motorcycle gang from wearing or distributing its logo that often appears on leather vests and Harley-Davidson bikes.
U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper granted an injunction that prohibits gang members, their family members and associates from wearing, licensing, selling or distributing the logo.
The order comes one day after a nationwide, federal sweep that landed 61 Southern California Mongols members in jail. They face a variety of charges ranging from narcotics trafficking to murder.
"This is the first step toward stripping the Mongols of its very name," said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the Department of Justice in Los Angeles.
Forty-three suspects - including the Mongols former national president, West Covina resident Ruben "Doc" Cavazos - appeared in United States District Court on Tuesday. The remaining suspects will appear in court throughout the rest of the week, Mrozek said.
The members are all named in a 177-page federal indictment that contains 86 counts of racketeering, including murder, attempted murder, assaults, narcotics trafficking and hate crimes against blacks.
There were six Mongols charged in connection with a "Toys for Tots" shooting on Dec. 4, 2005, in Norco.
Andres Rodriguez, aka "Rascal;" Manuel Armendarez, aka "Mandog;" Rafael Lozano, aka "Peligroso;" Alex Lozano, aka "Reaper;" Ricardo Gutierrez; and Mario Angulo, aka "Kermit" were charged with attacking rival gang members and an off-duty fire department officer as they attempted to collect donations at the event, according to the document.
Other unidentified Mongols members were also involved, according to the document.
The indictment details the alleged crimes of dozens of members and associates of the Mongols Motorcycle Club and sheds light on the gang's presence in the area.
The Mongols gang was created in Montebello more than 30 years ago. Recently the group has met at Cavazos' home in West Covina. The government alleges the outlaw gang also conducts business at bars and in parking lots throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
"They are an outlaw motorcycle gang, and they are very vicious and very violent," said West Covina Detective Dan Nalian. "They make no bones about them being violent."
The indictment details incidents such as a drug deal in a Rosemead shopping center parking lot, a murder threat against a rival gang member in a Covina pub and a scuffle in an uptown Whittier restaurant, Steve's BBQ.
Steve Hernandez, owner of Steve's BBQ, said Mongols frequently visit his restaurant.
"These guys have always treated me with respect, but there have been times when things got sticky," Hernandez said.
On Feb. 4, an associate with the Mongols threatened to assault a black man if he did not leave the restaurant. Hernandez, who remembered the incident, said they were able to defuse the situation without police involvement.
"I have closed my business in the past because of problems like these, and I was considering closing it again on Sundays because of them," Hernandez said.
