Fontana man is stabbed while trying to break up an argument between two groups of trick-or-treaters on Halloween night

A man was stabbed while trying to break up an argument between two groups of trick-or-treaters in Fontana on Wednesday, according to the Fontana Police Department.

At about 8:05 p.m., the victim, a 45-year-old resident of Fontana, was in the area of Mango Avenue and Orange Way with family members who were trick-or-treating.

Another group of teenagers was passing by and an argument erupted among the two groups. The victim attempted to break up the argument just as it was beginning to turn physical and was stabbed.

Fontana P.D. officers arrived shortly thereafter and located the second group involved in the area of Sierra Avenue and Orange Way.


As a result of the police investigation, a 17-year-old male resident of Fontana was arrested in connection the stabbing. The unidentified suspect was later housed at the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall in San Bernardino on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. A knife was located nearby where he was contacted.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The extent of those injuries are unknown at this time but not believed to be life threatening.
