POMONA MAN STABBED

POMONA - An 18-year-old man was hospitalized after being chased and stabbed by several people Saturday afternoon.

Pomona police responded to an assault call in the 1200 block of West Third Street at 1:10 p.m., authorities said.

When police arrived, the victim told them he was chased by seven Latinos and one Latina before one of the men stabbed him, according to a police news release.

The victim reported he was approached by the group as he walked in the area of Second Street and Hamilton Boulevard. They asked the victim about gang affiliation. When he denied gang involvement they chased him to the area of the 1100 block of West Second, according to the release.

All suspects threw glass bottles at him during the chase. After the seven men cornered him, one of them stabbed him with a knife, according to the statement.

The victim was able to escape with the help of a nearby resident.

The suspects then drove off in two cars - a tan, 2000s model, 4-door Honda Accord and a 4-door, 90s model white Honda Accord - that were last seen headed west on Second.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. No one has been arrested.
