In my opinion Hamburger Hill is the greatest Vietnam war movie...We Were Soldiers is pretty good also. A lot of those other ones over do it with the political shit trying to give off some kind of agenda. and Apocolypse now is just some wierd ass shit, lol...but that one is good too.

Saving Private Ryan is good but certain parts of it irritated the shit out of me.

The Pacific mini-series comes out on HBO next month..looking forward too that. Band of Brothers was great. although in my opinion they could have picked better books/experiences from the ETO t do it on.

The Green Berets-okay
Saving private Ryan -pretty good, but certain aspects of it irritate the shit out of me, but thats just me nitpicking, lol.
Gods & Generals-interesting but moves a little too slow for my taste
Apocalypse now-a good movie, but not what I wouldnt consider it a realistic portrayal of the war, but it really wasnt trying to be, obviously, lol.
Tora, Tora, Tora-havent seen it unfortunately
The Patriot-good..fuck them Brits..yeah janky...I said it
Midway-never seen it unfortunately
Platoon-entertaining, but really Overated imo, My gramps who is a Nam veteran doesnt like this movie, said it makes the Grunts who fought there look like a bunch of undisciplined losers.
Hamburger Hill-My gramps says this one along with We Were Soldiers are the two that most 'got it right'. He also likes it cause its about the 101st Screaming Eagles in the Nam, he was with the 'rooster men' for awhile after he got wounded and his old unit was in the field. Also, this movie is actually based on true events of the 3/187 Rakkassans assaults on the hill.
We were soldiers-Great movie..some parts of it filmed around my old neighborhood on Ft Benning, thought that was pretty cool. Based on a really good book "We Were Soldiers..Once and Young", only thing i didnt like was the bayonet charge at the end that didnt happen and they left out the 2nd part of the battle of the Ia Drang, X-Ray was only the first part.
Pearl Harbor-WAAAAAAAAAAACK
Black hawk down-really good imo
Halls of Montezuma-never seen it.
Guadalcanal diary-never seen it
SGT. York-seen it along time ago, but dont remember enough of it to have an opinion. All I know is Sgt York was a fuckin Sav.
and a s%#t load of others.

Any of yall been catching The Pacific on Hbo? So far not as good as Band of Brothers, but once the story switches to Eugene Sledge its gonna get really good I think. The parts on Peleliu. these first three episodes like the calm before the storm. Thats what im hoping for.

Just downloaded episode 4. The series doesn't have the same effect as Band Of Brothers. It's more focused on individual guys, rather than a group (still good though).
