Oakland is a city made up of thousands of gang members who own the streets and enforce their rules with guns and violence. It's all part of what everyone calls "The Game" - a world of drugs, money, and retaliation.

Watched it last night, really gritty show, that follows stories on both sides of the law. Oakland is hardcore.

Four cops got killed during a single shootout IIRC damn!

I wonder if this is a one shot series or will this series have multiple seasons and move on to cover other hoods.

They done an LA one before this, if its the same show, had the same name anyway.

The guy at 4:17 on part 1 was the guy on Hood 2 Hood Oakland segment, them M.O.B guys from Acorn Projects.

True, unfortunately this is only going to be a 2 part special with the wrap up this upcoming monday.

YEAH OAKLAND STREET IS OFF DA HOOK!

My boy is from 82nd Deep East Oakland. Tells me all about it out there, I don't know if it's like this for most of Oakland and there's no doubt that there are established known gangs in the Town, but dudes don't get jumped in where he's from. You just rep the street you grew up on, but dudes take it to the extreme so it's basically on some gangbangin shit. From what he tells me, it's pretty much every street for themselves, one block against the next.

We all know how these gang specials are. There isn't much gang banging like Southern California going on in Oakland and Bay area in general with a few exceptions of course.

I would call it more like Turf bangin.

Yeah like paid said block to block stuff. Turf banging is basically gang banging in a sense but I don't think many people would describe Oakland or anything in the bay as a gang land. When I watched the show on discovery they mentioned Oakland had close to 10,000 gang members, now this is obviously them labeling anybody who sells drugs and is part of a crew/clique a gang member so it's misleading.

I know a few cats from oakland and they always refer to their hoods as their turf. Turf talk is basically hood business, and they dont have the so cal gang style, for the most part at least with the black gangs, but there is definetly a lot of banging going on in "the town," just a little bit differently, but definetly violent dangerous and active.

Did anyone catch Part 2 last nite, it focused on entirely on Oakland's Latino gangs specifically the three main ones, Nortenos, Surenos, and Border Brothers whereas Part 1 focused on the black gangs. Both hours were an awesome documentary.
