Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Yea looks like we may have a vote on this in november. Well you know where I stand on this. Its simply none of anyones bussiness whether or not a grown ass person wants to buy and use marijuana. I can't even wrap my mind around the mentality one can have to make these things illegal in the first place.
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
I cant see it being legailzed! There would be too much money lost in it. It obviously gets here illegally. So to legailzed it, you would have to put some kind of tax on it. I' sure the tax on it would be pretty high too. Would the "Heads" of the drug cartels be down with that? Bud is the largest Money making drug out there! Taxing it would prob be good for the economy though...

Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Yeah, of course theirs many who don't want it legalized for many different reaons..drugs cartels make a killing on sales, and its good for the governemt to keep the war on drugs going also. For one, we already pay through taxes to constantly fight the wasteful drug war with law enforcement. If we stopped the war on drugs it would make them irrelavent. The drug war also is a way for them to harrass and control the poor communites..All this drug war ever did was bring a violent under world into the community. Poor people fighting for scraps.
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Look at it this way, if you legalize it in the State, you'll still have the Feds cracking down on it. And even though the State would be getting taxes off it, Washington DC wont get a penny off it. The State alredy has it semi-legal for you to score and smoke some pot.. all you gotta do is get a prescription for it and you can smoke away all night long.. but that shit off the little stores is "expensive" Yeah! So even if they go full blown leagl on tha' herb, there's still going to be plenty of people go are going to either go to their connnection or just homegrow the yesca, cause those "taxes" can hike up the price a tid bit, you know ~. kind of like that tax on your gallon of gas. So why pay more? Especially if no body from the state or local law enforcement agencies are gonna be trippin' on you growing your own anymore? bet you one thing for sure, those State cops are gonna start looking for a Fed job soon after.. you know.. to keep their kids in college
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Well that right their is the problem. The damn feds over stepping into shit they shouldn't. This is the type of issue meant to be handled on a local state level. The way we have allowed the damn federal government to burst in and overide local state laws is rediculous. Their needs to be a change in peoples thinking if we ever want to have a free society. First step, states should stand up to the feds when they over step with their bullshit laws, Other wise whats the point in having states, might as well have a big powerful central government that rules over us as our god and not have states at all..every time the feds gain more power is just one more step to a world government.. Sadly many people today believe in the big federal/or world government philosiphy whether they realize it or not. let washington DC, decide everything, what we eat, smoke, let them manage our heatlhcare, our education, ,..pretty soon everything.
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
For a while, you heard about clinics getting raided. After Obama got elected, he told the Feds to stop messing with the dispensaries, and that it should be a state issue & not a federal one.

THE FEDS! .. and that my dear is whom we've had calling the shots and holding the keys to the car for quite a while OTHERWISE we would of been an ANARCHIST STATE.. a free for all.. not one nation but 50+ .. yeah that's right ~> 50+
all the States would of broken down already to "CITY STATES" .. like the GREEKS and the SLAVS.. all staking claim to their small POT

Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Even if each individual state government legalized herb, the federal government retains the power to enforce federal laws in each state, in there lies the dilema, to be completely legal, it would have to make its way thru circuit courts, federal courts and finally...hopefully the presidents' desk, not to mention the co-sign of the Senate majority of a law passed by Congress...it's an uphill battle to say the least...in either case...smoke'em if you gott'em homies.....

Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
Haha I knew someone was going to have the bring up these arguements..Well I don't even think Ryda is for legalizing weed so its got nothing to do wit him.2nd, I don't completly buy into the same version of history thats always cramed down our throat by the mainsteam and public schools. Best believe I been reading up on these things, but all that aside, it don't matter... Besides I'm not saying we shouldn't have the feds at all, but they are suppose to have a certain role, like protecting the natural laws listed in the US constitution. Outside of that everything they do is stepping outside their bounderies but we let it happen out of ignorance. The reason I can't help but rant is because its about much more than marijuana to me. Its about whether we should have a free society or not.wolfman wrote:cray, there you go again with that world government new world conspiracy theory.. you oughta stop gettin' hi with nite ridah and choka

Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
It's mainly an issue of individual liberty, as the "war on drugs" is racist in itself. Not to mention pharmaceutical companies are developing drugs that have the same effects as marijuana, mainly because you can't put a trademark or patent on something that grows out of the ground. They don't even think about the positive effects of marijuana (like using it to restore appetite during cancer, etc) because the health care industry makes more money off peoples' suffering & death than if they survive. It's all about money, and corporations stand to lose a lot of it if marijuana becomes legal.

What you just said is an important point. I was just listening to one of these radio shows and the host kept saying hes against the medical marijuana because he belives their is 'other drugs' that people can use instead of having to use marijuana. He might as well have said we should all be slaves to the big pharmaceutical companies. Theirs many stories of doctors telling their patient to use the marijuana and the feds bust in their place and take it all away. Which is just crazy that the feds can get in between a doctor and a patient like this and tell people what they can and can't do.

That's the thing though, who knows what the side-effects are? They always put some kind of stuff in there that messes you up. Look at all the prescription drug commercials on TV and the side-effects they list (damage to your organs, possible stroke, etc). Acetaminophen destroys your liver, yet doctors are paid a lot of money to prescribe it. When you get hurt on the job and you see the doctor, they give you Vicodin. When they won't treat your condition because it's cheaper to just give you pain medication, they put you on something else after you can't take Vicodin anymore (after your liver is shot). I know a guy that's on methadone because he can't take Vicodin anymore (he fucked up his back at work). They give that to heroin addicts. It's evil, man. They're making money while people are sick & are suffering. It's no different than companies like Nestle, who have made money while killing people. This is an old article, but it's still a good read:

Yeah, its kind of funny how they point to these "other drugs" people can use instead of marijuana as if these drugs are suppose to be some how safer in the long run? What would make anyone assume that? And just think how much worse it will get now with the new health care bill. Straight up big give away to the insurance and pharmacuetical companies giving them an even stronger monopoly. Pretty soon no free competition at all. Just trust the gov and corporations is what were suppose to do I guess.
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
I dont see how they can ban something that grows naturally from the ground. To me, it's no different than banning certain fruits or vegetables. I should be able to plant my seeds and grow whatever the hell i want in my yard, thats all i'm saying, or if my neighbor has something growing in his yard that i'd like, i should be able to take my ass to they pad and get me some without worrying about somebody nosey ass telling and getting in our business. They only mad because it's in HIGH demand and they wont profit from it if it's legalized. They wont be able to arrest or harrass you for it if you got it. Which means less people in jail. Which means, less profit in they pocket. Clearly it has helped MANY people medically and YES some do abuse it, but thats with anything, food, alcohol, sex, money, other drugs, etc...
Legalize it!!!!
Legalize it!!!!
Re: California - legalizing marijuana?
You guys need to read this. It documents the history of marijuana, all the way up to why it was made illegal & the use of racism in order to keep it illegal.
