FONTANA - An 18-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning after gunfire erupted following a child's birthday celebration.
At approximately 12:28 a.m. two groups began an altercation at the home in the 9900 block of Briarwood Ave.

Both groups began exchanging bullets and the woman was struck and killed, a news release from the Fontana Police Department says.

Based on information gathered during an investigation it appears the woman was an unintended victim, the release says.

Her identity hasn't been released, pending notification of family members.
