RIVERSIDE: Alleged gang members accused in shooting in court

Two reported members of a Mira Loma street gang charged in the 2006 shooting death of a man are due in court this morning.

David Ruben Uribe and Nathan Lee Lucero are charged with murder with special circumstances in the February, 2006, shooting of Mira Loma resident David Henslick.

Investigators allege Henslick's shooting was in retaliation for his testimony against Lucero's father and two others in 2003.

Uribe and Lucero used the nicknames "Clever" and "Rascal" when they came looking for Henslick, according to witness statements.

This morning's hearing relates to the introduction of evidence to be used during the men's trial.

Jury selection began Monday in the trial of two alleged Mira Loma gang members charged in the 2006 shooting death of a man who had testified against other gang members.

David Ruben Uribe and Nathan Lee Lucero, who are known by their gang monikers "Clever" and "Rascal" respectively, are accused of gunning down David Henslick in retaliation for Henslick testifying against Lucero's father and two other gang members, according to court documents.

Henslick was able to identify "Clever" as his assailant before he died, the court documents said.

he testified against "Hubcaps" Lucero, Grumpy & Porky from dodd cuz they went into his homie's pad and shot that dude daniel who shorted hubcaps on a dope deal, they robbed him of his dope and about a G and a half a few months before, david was right there and he was the one getting calls frm dodd streeters threatening to kill him.. they caught hubcaps at the hospital since he got grazed with a vala on his cheek he wouldnt talk to the cops but they knew he was involved in what happened earlier.. all 3 ended up getting conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated attempted murder and burglary with gang enhancements after the testimony from that vato david.. hubcaps got 67 yrs grumpy got 50 and porky got 35

RIVERSIDE: Gang members get life in revenge killing

Two members of the Dodd Street gang in Mira Loma on Friday were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the revenge slaying of a witness who had testified in an earlier trial involving the same gang.

Nathan Lee Lucero, 21 and David Ruben Uribe, 27, also were sentenced to 25 years to life each because they had used a firearm to commit the murder.

Ken and Doree Henslick, the parents of victim David Henslick, made victim impact statements.

Sally Martinez, Uribe's mother, was overcome with emotion when she made her statement in court.

Jurors last month found Lucero and Uribe guilty of gunning down Henslick on Feb. 18, 2006.

Prosecutor Mark Singerton said Henslick had testified against Lucero's father and two other Dodd Street gang members in a January 2004 trial.
