Three men attack and rob a man who was riding a bicycle; two suspects are arrested

Three young men allegedly attacked and robbed a man who was riding a bicycle on Aug. 1, according to the Fontana Police Department.

The 34-year-old victim, a resident of Fontana, was heading eastbound on Santa Ana Avenue at 8:54 p.m. when a silver Altima passed the victim and stopped at the intersection of Juniper Avenue and Santa Ana.

Three men got out of the rear doors of the car and ran toward the victim while claiming to be "South Fontana."

The suspects punched the victim in the chest and stomach area, and then took his bicycle and cash. The victim suffered an abrasion to the right side of his body and was enduring pain in his face, but did not seek hospital treatment, police said.


Officers were able to detain two of the suspects on Juniper south of Santa Ana, and one of the suspects was in possession of the bicycle, police said.

The two suspects taken into custody were Edgar Marquez, 19, and Yibran Silva, 18, both of Fontana.

The Altima left to an unknown location.
