The man accused of attempting to carjack two vehicles and rob a man at the end of his mad dash from Pomona to Glendora also attempted to take two other vehicles and break into a La Verne home Saturday.

La Verne Police became involved when a stolen vehicle, occupied by several suspects crashed in the 1900 block of Fifth Street in La Verne. While other subjects fled the scene, the main suspect exited the vehicle and accidentally shot himself in the leg, said La Verne Police in a written statement.

A Good Samaritan attempted to help the suspect, who then attempted to take the man's vehicle at gunpoint. The Good Samaritan was able to flee. The suspect attempted to break into a home nearby, but fled on foot to the 1700 block of Sixth Street. After failing to steal one car, the suspect broke into a nearby residence and stole a parked SUV, police said.

The chase was on and the suspect eventually crashed near the intersection of Barranca Avenue and Gladstone Street, where the suspect attempted to steal a broken down minivan.

After punching and attempting to rob a man at the Larios Market across from where the chase ended, the suspect reported attempted to steal another vehicle. The suspect was eventually detained by Covina Police, authorities said.

The suspect was taken to County/USC for his treatment. The suspect has not yet been identified.
