Rialto police are looking for a man who tried Tuesday, Oct. 9, to kidnap two teenage girls as they walked home from school.
The man is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build. He’s in his mid- to late 30s. His hair is black and was last seen slicked back and he has a medium skin tone. He appears to be balding.
The man was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt and black pants, and he was driving a blue or black 2004 to 2012 Jeep Liberty four-door SUV. Neither girl got a look at the license plate.
Both girls, who were on their way home from Eisenhower High School about 2:50 p.m., were walking through an alley north of the Stater Bros. Market in the 100 block of East Base Line, Rialto police said in a news release.
The man drove up to the first girl and asked her for directions. She ran away down the alley, police said.
The man then drove past the running girl and past a second girl at the end of the alley. He got out of the Jeep and grabbed the second girl by the shoulders. She kicked and punched the man until he let her go, got back into his vehicle and drove away.
Neither girl was injured in the incident, police said.
Because similar incidents have happened in neighboring jurisdictions, the police are asking that anyone with information about this incident call Detective Cpl. James Mills at 909-421-4990 or Sgt. Tim Lane at 909-820-2632.
