Pretty entertaining but...I think his overly aggressive, in your face way of confronting people can backfire because he is going to reinforce people's prejudices that gun owners and pro gun right people are unstable crazy people who yell and shouldn't be trusted.

The statistics he uses, like the fact that crime has went down for 20 years as gun ownership has increased, is one I have used often in debates. It is very useful in that it pretty much disproves the argument that increases in gun ownership among the public causes more crime and murder. But he needs to be careful when making that argument because of the correlation and causation fallacy. So it does crush the hypothesis that guns in of themselves increase crime but at the same time doesn't necessarily PROVE that increases in gun ownership reduces crime in of itself, as there can obviously be other factors involved.

Regarding the way he reacted, I agree with you to a certain extent, but the other man did clearly invade his personal space and provoked Jones into reacting that way. Jones simply stood his ground. Thankfully it didn't escalate and no harm was done.

I think Jones did well in showing that he wouldn't be intimidated by those kinds of childish antics. I don't personally condone physical aggression in that kind of situation, but I also don't believe in letting someone walk all over you either. That old man was clearly trying to intimidate Jones, and his punk bitch wife was doing the same lol. It backfired on them both.

As for the crime decreased as gun ownership increased argument, it's a strong inductive argument so long as the person proposing it doesn't attempt to assert that it's the sole reason behind the dramatic decrease in crime. We know that many factors played a role in that phenomena, such as the imprisonment of thousands of violent criminals in the proceeding years, introduction of new laws, etc. But increase in gun ownership can surely be attributed to being one of the major factors.

Now, notice the way the opposing side often resorts to using emotional diatribes when confronted with some of these verifiable facts.

Jones - "Sir, did you know that gun crimes have plummeted during the last 20 years as gun ownership increased"?

Old man -- "I know that my daughter was killed by an AR-15 in Aurora!!".

They ignore not only the readily available statistics, but also the tens of thousands of cases in which lives were actually saved because of legally armed citizens taking action in those situations.

It's fallacious "reasoning" and willful ignorance combined.

LOL @ the old man getting crazy.

Yeah these people always resort to emotional arguments. That is all they have left at this point. We see this all over the media every time some new debate pops up, whether it be gun control, health care, the debt ceiling, it's all about who can yell the most and sound angry, fuck a logical argument ! That's democracy in action..
