Seventy people are arrested during gang sweep operation in Fontana

Seventy people were arrested in Fontana during a multi-agency gang sweep operation, according to the Fontana Police Department.



On Sept. 5, officers and deputies from the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (S.M.A.S.H.) Task Force conducted a proactive zero tolerance sweep operation.

The arrests included warrant arrests, probation violations and open charges. One stolen vehicle was recovered along with three firearms. One of the firearms was stolen.

The S.M.A.S.H. Task Force includes personnel from several agencies, including the Fontana, Rialto, Montclair, Upland, Redlands, and Colton Police Departments, along with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Probation Department, and District Attorney's Office and the California Highway Patrol.
