Police investigating fatal shooting at Fontana park

FONTANA >> Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting here that left an 18-year-old dead.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Fontana officers were flagged down and told of the shooting at Bill Martin Park in the 7800 block of Juniper Avenue, according to a Police Department news release.
They found Albert Pena of Fontana suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Juniper Avenue.
Pena later died at a hospital, according to the news release.
Detectives believe Pena was in the park’s parking lot when he was confronted by a group of people. After an argument, police say Pena ran from the suspects who chased him firing multiple shots.

Police have not released a motive.

Damn another one.

This by Fontana standards has been one of the most active past couple years. These hoods been gunning for each other, shootings every night, every week or two someone get killed. From what I can tel so far, victim was from CWP.

Seems like violent crime is on the rise all over the country. I remember the 1990's Fontana. It was active.

Yeah. Also I believe we are in a recession but the government doesn't want to admit it, that's a whole other story though.

Everybody is strapped up right now and I mean everybody. Gun laws are changing but niggaz ain't. With everything going on right now I dnt blame them.

One adult and three juveniles have been arrested for their alleged roles in the shooting death of a Fontana teenager at Bill Martin Park, according to the Fontana Police Department.
Following a brief standoff in the 7600 block of Blanchard Avenue in the late afternoon of July 6, police arrested Daniel Michel, 19, and a female juvenile. They were both charged with homicide and gang enhancements, said Fontana Police Sgt. Brian Heaviside.
The standoff lasted about 20 minutes but ended peacefully when the suspects surrendered. They were transported to West Valley Detention Center.
Two additional juveniles were arrested on the same charges, and one suspect is still outstanding, Heaviside said.
The police investigation determined that the suspects were allegedly involved in the gang-related shooting of Albert Pena, 18, on July 5 at the park.
On that night, police said that Pena was in the parking lot at the park when he was confronted by several suspects. At some point during the confrontation, the victim ran from the suspects, who chased after him. While chasing the victim, the suspects
fired several shots, hitting the victim multiple times. The suspects then fled the area and were gone when officers arrived.
Pena was transported by paramedics to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
