RIVERSIDE: 'Chaos' at drive-in after shooting

A shooting Saturday night at a Riverside drive-in caused movie-watchers to scramble and brought a heavy police response, police said.

A fight between a group of men at Van Buren Cinema 3 Drive-In left one man shot and several injured, Riverside Police Lt. Andy Flores said on Sunday. The incident happened around 10:10 p.m.

The man who was shot drove himself to the hospital, Flores said. The man, who police did not identify, was treated and released.

Drive-in patrons fled the location after shots were fired, Flores said.

"It was pretty much chaos when we got there, apparently," Flores said.

Riverside police gang units responded to the scene, but thus far have no suspects. Victims in the case were not cooperating with police Flores said.

Riverside police continue to search for a gunman who opened fire at a crowded drive-in movie theater over the weekend, wounding one person and causing a chain reaction that injured two others.

The altercation was reported just after 10 p.m. at the Van Buren Drive-In. Two people began fighting for an unknown reason, with others quickly joining in, Sgt. Derwin Hudson said.

After the shots were fired, two people were struck and injured by fleeing vehicles, Hudson said. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Neither a motive nor a suspect description has been released. The Police Department's gang unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information may call Detective Chad Collopy at 951-353-7242.

shits been real hot in the hood and it seems like the press & the police is only going to release the stuff that they want or something that goes on in public like this, they aint showing everything thats going on.. my homie got shot last month and nothing, a black girl and guy got shot last sunday in front of the apartments and that didnt get released either, i heard the girl died but idk.. no media attention but fuck it they dont wanna make the city or the neighborhood look bad.. about 3 months ago sum dude frm MGF got shot or killed over by arlanza and nuthin, that same week sum other vato got shot in Hillside too.. the cops are really holding out with this info they dont want ppl knowing whats really going on

Its a tactic they use, if you think there not looking for you, their hoping you let your guard down and slip up......I'm sure they have some suspects in mind, their just biting time.....waiting, watching....then BOOM.....35 gang members arrested in sweep, that'll make the front page.....

oh i know they're lil tactic but yeah we've been knowing they're looking for suspects but around here most of the time they dont even have evidence or witnesses.. fuckin neighborhood has been crowded with cops going up n down last week fuckin cops were out on foot patrol on casa blanca street when theyre doing foot patrol thats when we know its hot they never do that shit.. gang units all over the place too

hahahaa naaa they wont ride their bikes they might get shot off lol.. its rare for them to even do foot patrols, if u look at the history between the jura & the neighborhood they would think that wouldnt be too smart but i guess they go around jst looking for evidence of shit u know bullets n so on.. but they dont even cruise the neighborhood often they're still scared of getting shot at they still jst cruise up & down lincoln ave and wait for something to happen..

I know whatcha talking about.....I've seen'em beat down drug addicts, for nothing more than walking down the street....I think it's those mighty tighty super slims they call shorts, nutsacks probably hurting got merfs and shit aggravated cause they gotta pedal bikes rather than pushing a gas pedal.....lol.....I remember this time a 1X literally used his bike to pin down one suspect while his partner searched for dudes accomplice......had the bike parked on dudes back....kickstand and everything!!!!!

a lil more info on what went down.. two dudes from fern got ran over one might not make it, they got ran over after they jumped some of the homies, these vatos were in their mid to late 20s and they jumped the lil homies which are in the ages around 17-18.. my lil homie got stabbed in the face & head and my other homie whos in his mid 20s got shot, nothing big tho he's firme he got hit in the chest.. krazie shit that went on
