Barnes arrested for domestic violence
Lakers forward Matt Barnes was arrested on felony domestic violence charges and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report by The Sacramento Bee.
LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP
Charley Rosen adores basketball but has mixed feelings about the modern NBA. Check out the things he loves and the things he hates.
Barnes, a Sacramento native and one of the newest Lakers after signing with the NBA champs this summer, was arrested after police responded to an incomplete 911 call and encountered Barnes and a woman "who lived with him and with whom he had a dating relationship," a police spokesman said.
Both had injuries, but it appeared Barnes had been the aggressor and prevented the woman from completing the 911 call, police said. Barnes, also charged with maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line, Curran said. He posted a $50,000 bond and was released Wednesday night. He's scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Barnes, 30, signed a two-year contract worth $3.6 million with the Lakers in July as a free agent. A UCLA product, he started 58 games last season for Orlando.
The well-traveled swingman had played for the Sacramento Kings from October 2004 to February 2005 before being traded, along with Chris Webber and Michael Bradley, to the Philadelphia 76ers.
