Jail life (in the I.E.) Empty Jail life (in the I.E.)

Post  CaliforniaRepublic Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:39 pm

To all that have been locked up somewhere out here in the I.E., How was it for you? Was there alot of IE g's in there? Talk about it alittle bit. Compare them. How was the staff, etc... This section is just for general discussion on these jails and how they operate. Any thoughts on how to change them ,make them run better, or things that can be done for the inmates to make it easier. General discussion.... I've gathered up some quick info on whats what and where. Maybe you have a few funny stories about something you've seen or whatever....??

West Valley Detention Center
9500 Etiwanda Avenue
Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.
It has 3,347 beds. Was built in 1991. And is said to be one of the largest county jails in california.

Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center
18000 Institution Road
P.O.Box 9490
Devore,Ca 92407
The Male facility opened in 1960, as a work camp and had a capacity of 100 inmates in a maximum housing unit. The current facility has two minimum security housing units and 1 maximum security housing unit. It houses 1,024 inmates. There are current plans to develop two additional housing units that will hold nearly 500 pre-trial and sentenced county inmates. The Female facility opened in 1988 with three dorm units for county sentenced inmates. An additional maximum security unit was added in 2003 and the facility now houses both pre-trial and sentenced females. The facility has the capacity to hold 326 inmates.

Central Detention Center
630 East Rialto Avenue
San Bernardino, Ca. 92415
Originally opened in 1971, CDC was the main jail system for over 20 years. Over-crowding in the 1980s, resulted in the county building West Valley. Central jail closed for a couple of years due to budget issues, but re-opened in 1994 when the sheriff's department negotiated a contract with the U.S. Marshals to house federal prisoners. Currently it houses around 330 federal prisoners and 600 county inmates.

Adelanto Detention Center
9438 Commerce Way
Adelanto, Ca 92301
It was opened in 2006 and houses over 700 inmates.

YA by far! We fought every day and had kickoffs damn near every 2 weeks but they gave us privileges u wont get in County. We got to play football, have pizza parties, cable, jobs, school, all kinds of shit. In Ventura (VYCF) there's even girls there. One thing tho, the moment we fucked up and kicked it off, oh our ass was on lockdown lol

Yea juvy was child's play. I actually got sent to YA for starting a riot and juvy and staff got attacked in the melee so me and 3 other homies got charges (Gilbert). Yea YA was a bit crazy, I can remember full fledge kickoffs in the school areas. Half of my time spent in YA we was segregated, especially in the BTP units. Those are the "high power" units. West Valley is str8 bs. After paroling from State , everyone in YA now has to go back to county jail to go to court. I did 4 days in West Valley b4 i got released and those 4 days was some of the worst of ma whole 3 years. The food, the grimyness, the bums, smh. Thats when I seen state is waaaaaaay better than County. We were at least "special" because we were the last of the youth in "state prisons", in county you're just another mf
