CUCAMONGA GANGMEMBER GUILTY OF MURDER
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A gang member was convicted of first degree murder and four counts of attempted murder today for a shooting outside a Rancho Cucamonga market.
Jurors deliberated a little more than a day before finding Paul Anguiano, 25, guilty of the killing of 18-year-old Dennis Vaughn Harris, of Corona.
The shooting occurred on Oct. 4, 2005 outside a store on 25th Street near Hermosa Avenue.
Harris was one of four men who ventured into the neighborhood that day looking for people involved in an earlier fight at Old Town Park.
Authorities say he opened fire on the group as they confronted a man whom they believed took part in the earlier incident.
Anguiano will return to West Valley Superior Court on July 25 for sentencing.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A gang member was convicted of first degree murder and three counts of attempted murder Thursday for a shooting outside a Rancho Cucamonga market.
Jurors deliberated a little more than a day before finding Paul Anguiano guilty of the killing of 18-year-old Dennis Vaughn Harris of Corona.
Prosecutors say Anguiano is a member of the Cucamonga Kings gang and comes from a family with strong ties to the criminal organization that has plagued the city for generations.
"I think this conviction will make a big difference in that community," Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Youngberg said. "We've taken a very violent person off the street."
Anguiano's uncle, Raymond, is already serving life in prison for crimes tied to the gang.
Anguiano faces more than 70 years to life in prison when he returns to West Valley Superior Court to be sentenced July 25.
The shooting occurred Oct. 4, 2005, outside a store on 25th Street near Hermosa Avenue.
Harris, the son of a Monterey Park Police Department lieutenant, was one of four men who ventured into the neighborhood that day looking to confront people involved in an earlier fight near a children's football game at Old Town Park.
When they stopped to approach a man they recognized from the fight, Anguiano stepped out of the shadows and opened fire with a handgun.
The shooting was captured on a surveillance tape, though the gunman's face was obscured
by shadows.
Anguiano claimed during his trial that it was not him.
His attorney, Dan Mangan, did not return a call seeking comment Thursday afternoon.
In addition to the murder and attempted murder counts, jurors found true enhancements for gang involvement and gun use.
