UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
NBC NEWS
The jury in the George Zimmerman second-degree murder trial will be allowed to consider the lesser charge of manslaughter, the judge ruled Thursday.
The ruling came after the prosecution sought to include two lesser charges from the original murder in the second degree: manslaughter and felony murder in the third degree with child abuse as the underlying felony.
The charges stem from the Feb. 26, 2012, killing of Trayvon Martin, 17, in a gated community in Sanford, Fla.
The prosecution’s request represented a slight shift from Wednesday, when the state had stated it would also ask for aggravated assault as lesser charge.
The defense argued against allowing the jury to consider any lesser charges, and defense attorney Don West called the child-abuse allegation“outrageous." Martin was a minor at the time he was fatally shot.
"Just when I thought this case couldn't get any more bizarre, the state is seeking third degree murder charges based on child abuse?" West said.
"This is outrageous," West later said, adding, "It's just hard for me to imagine that the court could take this seriously."
Judge Debra Nelson told the attorneys she would rule on the proposal later.
Zimmerman, 29, has pleaded not guilty, saying he acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Martin last year. Zimmerman did not testify on his own behalf during the trial.
If convicted of second-degree murder, Zimmerman could face up to life in prison.
The state is scheduled to deliver closing arguments at 1 p.m. on Thursday; the defense will present its closing arguments on Friday morning.
The defense rested Wednesday after briefly hearing testimony from Robert Zimmerman, George Zimmerman’s father, and Olivia Bertalan, a resident at the Retreat at Twin Lakes gated community where Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch volunteer and where he and Martin had their fatal encounter.
Bertalan had been robbed while she was home with her young son by what she told the court were two teenagers about six months before Martin was killed. She said Zimmerman came over to her house and offered her a lock for her sliding glass door.
"We were terrified when this happened," she said. "He was just saying he wanted to make sure we were OK."
Robert Zimmerman, the defense's final witness, testified that on 911 calls from the night of the shooting, screams of “help” were “absolutely” his son George, despite conflicting opinions from others, including Martin's mom,[b style="font-family: georgia, serif; color: rgb(51, 51, 51);"] [/b]that the yells could be from Martin.
George Zimmerman’s mom, Gladys, testified the screams belonged to George Zimmerman, as did several other people.

Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
What a crock of shit. Anybody who's following this trial knows that Zimmeran has been getting ready to walk. NOTHING has gone good for the prosecution, and now the prosecutor is trying to get child abuse entered as one of the lesser charges. Grasping at straws, the prosecutor knows he has lost and is trying to compare this to people who were negligent with a gun waving it around in a room with a baby in a crib. Well maybe that was the strategy, Trayvon Martin is being portrayed as an innocent baby and he was going back to his crib. I'm surprised they aren't using his baby pictures. The judge knows he is about to walk on an overblown case and the prosecution had no business bringing murder charges on to begin with and wants to avoid the inevitable riots.
This fiasco of a case has been nothing more then diversionary hype from the start, you can the thank the partial, agenda driven main stream media/press, and all of these imbecilic "activists" for what is potentially about to happen.

LOS ANGELES - More protests are planned across California after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Protesters took the streets in Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco following the verdict being read in a Florida courtroom late Saturday. The demonstrations were largely peaceful but there were small street fires and broken windows in Oakland.
In Los Angeles, police officers were put on tactical alert, but there were no reports of any arrests. Police in San Francisco escorted protesters as they marched on the city's Mission District.
Protests were expected again Sunday in the three cities as well as in San Diego.

All over the state, and in various locations, apparently. From Oakland/San Francisco, down to L.A./San Diego. The protesters managed to shut down a portion of the 10 freeway near L.A. earlier today. The gobernment corporate run media is doing some HEAVY race baiting right now - let the race wars begin!

(Mike Mullen / Los Angeles Daily News)
[*]The Los Angeles Police Department issued a tactical alert Sunday night after protesters gathered in South Los Angeles to voice their anger that George Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges in the shooting death of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., and several protesters said between 50 and 100 protesters made it onto the east 10 Freeway at Crenshaw Boulevard and blocked traffic around 6 p.m.
Police said the protesters were cleared off the freeway by 6:45 p.m.. Hundreds of people were at the protest, police said.
Dozens of police officers in riot gear were at the eastbound Crenshaw Boulevard on-ramp to the 10 Freeway to prevent more protesters from making it onto the freeway and blocking traffic.
LAPD said a tactical alert means all officers on duty are ready to respond to civil unrest.
On Sunday evening, hundreds of people marched near Leimert Plaza Park chanting and holding signs that read, "We are all Trayvon" and "Tray-vesty."
"We're marching because a 17-year-old boy was murdered and nothing happened to his murderer," said Melina Abdullah of Los Angeles. "It signals to us that black life doesn't mean anything. That black boys' lives don't mean anything."
Abdullah's two daughters and son walked alongside her on Crenshaw Boulevard.
"We have to engage in a righteous struggle and that is what we are doing," Abdullah said. "All three of my children
are here standing up because if they don't stand up, they could be shot down."
An estimated crowd of between 150 and 200 people also gathered at Leimert Plaza Park in South L.A. on Saturday night for a peaceful protest after Zimmerman was cleared of all charges, police said Sunday.
The Florida trial both captivated and polarized the nation, igniting fierce debates on racial profiling, self-defense and gun control. Unlike in Oakland on Saturday, where some demonstrators broke windows of businesses and started small street fires, Los Angeles Police Department officials said they had no reported incidents of violence.
"It was a peaceful protest," LAPD Sgt. Greg Garcia of the Southwest Division said. "It was loud but there was no violence. It was an orderly protest."
However, KNX-AM (1070) reporter Claudia Peschiutta reported that she was hit by a bean bag round at about 1 a.m. Sunday that police fired into the crowd. She was checked by paramedics at the scene.
"I feel fine; it's a pretty big bruise and it hurts to sit but other than that, I was fine," Peschiutta said, noting she was hit on the back of her upper left thigh.
Peschiutta said she
was told by police that a motorcycle officer had been surrounded by protesters and may have been pushed around on the bike. Police told her they were looking for two suspects, they fired and the suspects got away.
Ironically, Peschiutta was out with friends celebrating her birthday in Highland Park, she said, when she and some of her colleagues decided to check out the protest.
"I was hanging out with other journalists; we wanted to check things out and then I got hit," she said. "I called up my station and said Let's Go Live."
Garcia said bean bags are used in "less than lethal" situations and when individuals are considered unsafe to approach. But Garcia said he could not immediately confirm Sunday that bean bags were used or why they were used in this instance.
Zimmerman, who had faced the possibility of being convicted of second-degree murder or manslaughter before being acquitted, maintained the February 2012 shooting was an act of self-defense. Prosecutors painted Zimmerman as a vigilante who pursued Martin, who was African-American, because he assumed he was up to no good and then took the law into his own hands.
The demonstrators on Saturday night were chanting slogans and a few were holding up signs near Vernon Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in a district that is historically black.
Garcia said there were about 50 to 70 police officers on hand Saturday night to ensure everyone's safety.
"We were there to keep the peace and protect the property of the businesses there," he said.
Toward the end of the protest, demonstrators started marching northbound to the 10 Freeway up Crenshaw Boulevard, Garcia said. It ended there and participants quietly dispersed on their own, he said.

Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
LOL.....that was my reaction too. This is pathetic and disgraceful. Have you bothered tuning into CNN, MSNBC, etc., today? They're STILL focusing on this story heavily. The race card is being thrown around a lot, and it's getting glaringly obvious what their intentions are, which is to incite a "race war". It's both disturbing and disgusting.
Real journalism and news reporting is long dead. It's been usurped by idiot 'yes men journalist' and state run propaganda mills.

Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
Why disrupt other people's lives, who have absolutely nothing to do with the verdict? The jury found Zimmeran not guilty based on reasonable doubt that he committed premeditated murder. The evidence suggests that he acted in self-defense. People disagree with that, obviously, but life goes on.
Walking into the middle of the freeway, harassing innocent by-standers, destroying public/private property, isn't going to do accomplish anything aside from seriously pissing a whole lot of people off. People have to get to work, pick up their children, and take care of their business. These idiots may even be holding up emergencies. These actions are pitiful and ignorant. And unfortunately, I believe they may just be getting started.

Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
While many celebrities tossed their 140 characters of nonsense into the realm of Twitter, rapper Lupe Fiasco revealed the truth regarding how the media used the Trayvon Martin case to further ‘antagonize US race relations’.
Going on to talk about why the case should have never been televised and turned into a media sensation that is now causing so-called ‘protesters’ to go out and destroy private property, Lupe Fiasco is right on point with this one. As a major black artist, Lupe is obviously not ‘racist’ for calling out the mainstream media on their blatant race baiting and spin of the Trayvon Martin case, and neither am I when I point out this same fact. It simply comes down to looking at the way the media spun the entire case, let alone the ruling, in a way that has justifiably led to concerns that public backlash could result in riots or homicides.
And after seeing the slew of Twitter threats from users who said they’d hunt down and kill Zimmerman and others if he was not found guilty, it’s obvious the media has turned this case into a race-driven war.
As I’ve discussed earlier, there is a real level of corruption that threatens black individuals, Hispanic individuals, and white individuals. In fact, it’s the biggest threat we face today: corrupt government that has zero regard for our rights in any capacity. So why are we being tricked into fighting each other based on skin color under the guise of stopping the very same racism? It’s simple, and it comes down to political brainwashing 101.
HUMANITY COMING TOGETHER = REAL CIVIL LIBERTIES VICTORY
If we were all to come together, regardless of skin color, regardless of our so-called ‘political affiliations’, and stand up for our rights and the Constitution — we would assuredly achieve victory against all forms of civil liberties abuse. Against the Patriot Act which allows warrantless wiretapping of US citizens, against the NDAA which allows the indefinite detainment of US citizens, against the DHS-enacted 100 mile ‘border’ where the Constitution does not exist. Against all these real issues.
I agree with Lupe Fiasco, it’s time to reclaim our rights together — don’t let the media divide and conquer us in such a simple manner.

Props to him for seeing through the bullshit. Why does such a large percentage of people allow the media to manipulate their emotions??
Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
Tuned into the news a few minutes ago and apparently, the only newsworthy story in the world at the moment is the Zimmerman case. Nothing about the war crimes/terrorism the corrupt goberment is actively partaking in (Syria), nothing about the on-going effort to shred our constitution, not one mention about the actual economical condition we're facing, nothing about Obamas myriad scandals. Nothing. Instead we're having this "white vs black" nonsense shoved down our throats.
I really wish more people could see through these obvious divide and conquer tactics the main stream medias is employing. Lupe speaking the truth of the matter is commendable and very refreshing amid a wave of blithering, idiot celebrities regurgitating the same nonsense everyone else is because it's the "politically correctK" thing to do. Much props to Lupe for not being easily persuaded by the common sentiment of the day.

At this point, it seems likely. Especially considering the mounting "pressure" they're facing now too with the nearly one million people who've signed an NAACP petition asking for them to pursue a case. The DOJ made a public statement today saying that it was unlikely they would open a federal case, but I won't be surprised if they did. In this way, they'll appease the anti-Zimmeran crowd and antagonize the self-defense advocates. Either way, the same will be accomplished: divide and conquer.
And now the Obama administration is exploiting this story to renew efforts for gun control, too.
We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis.
He also spoke about how we should "honor" (wtf at honor) Trayvon's memory by trying to tide gun violence in our communities. This current propaganda is multi-faceted. It's primary purpose is to cause division and petty quarrels among the American people, but it appears that they're also capitalizing on the story to reignite the gun legislation push. Just last night, that babbling imbecile Pierce Morgan stated that "none of this would have happened had Zimmerman not been armed".
Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
This whole thing is disturbing on so many levels. But I guess what bothers me the most is that some people only decide to get angry and active when the media tells them to or manipulates them into getting angry. No doubt, there is plenty of shit to take to the streets for, but it's sad that people are so easily duped .

More than 200 people marched through the streets of San Bernardino and Victorville on Wednesday demanding justice for Trayvon Martin, a teen killed in Sanford, Fla., last year by a neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman.
On Saturday, Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges in a Florida courtroom by a jury of six.
Organizers of the San Bernardino march, Starh Hendrix, 26 of San Jacinto and Sharia Brown, 25, of San Bernardino, expected to have at least 100 people join them in a peaceful march for civil rights.

Since the acquittal groups all over the nation have led protests chanting, "No justice, no peace."
Some of the protests in California have led to rioting and random violence, but Hendrix and Brown demand that the San Bernardino march be done with peace.
"If it turns violent then what does that prove for our cause?" Brown said. "It would just take us back to the beginning and we'll have to start all over trying to get the same rights as everyone else."
Victorville's protest wasn't as peaceful though.
The protesters were
being denied by sheriff's deputies access to march through the The Mall of Victor Valley, according to a mall employee who didn't want to release her name.
The mall parking lot has become a melee for protesters and cars, she said. But sheriff's officials said there were no incidents of protesters getting out of control.
"The watch commander on duty said there weren't any issues with the protesters," said sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman.
An employee at the Olive Garden in The Mall of Victor Valley parking lot said a deputy told them to lock their doors as a precaution.
Sheriff's officials at the Victorville station declined to comment.

SAN BERNARDINO: Trayvon Martin protest turns violent
A march in San Bernardino protesting the George Zimmerman trial verdict turned violent late Thursday, July 18, when protesters assaulted a civilian, police officers and a police horse, police said.
The Police Department received multiple reports of the demonstrators committing various acts of vandalism around 8:45 p.m. in the 200 block of East Base Line, department officials said in a news release.
About 120 protesters were gathered in a restaurant parking lot and when officers arrived, the crowd began throwing rocks and bottles at them and passing vehicles, according to the release.
Just before midnight, as police continued
(Rick Sforza)
to respond to protest-related calls elsewhere in the city, a police vehicle left the northeast corner of Base Line and Waterman Avenue. Eleven protesters remained.
Andre Orr, 27, said police had asked the group to leave but they felt they had a right under the First Amendment to stay, even after he says police shot his cousin with a bean bag gun.
"He didn't do anything wrong," Orr said of his cousin, complaining about the time it took paramedics to arrive.
Orr acknowledged that he had seen some protesters throw bricks or rocks, which he said was incited by comments from people driving by. "Some (Latinos) drove by and were yelling at us, and you know how it is," Orr said. "They (protesters) didn't like that. But us, we were just
standing here. It wasn't our thing."
Police said the rock and bottle throwing started without provocation. People in the crowd began tossing rocks and bottles at passing motorists, police vehicles and police personnel.
A police car was damaged by a thrown rock, and a police horse was struck.
Police drove people away with horses and riot gear, Orr said, when they were there only to ask for justice.
Most of the protesters dispersed, but police say around 50 moved behind cinder block walls and started throwing rocks and bottles at officers. Police eventually cleared the remaining people out of the area.

Once the crowd had left, police received a report of a person who had been attacked by one of the protesters. The suspected attacker, 22-year-old Byron Thomas, was arrested after a long foot chase. Police said he was on parole.
Residents listening to police scanners asked about rumors of burnt fast food buildings and other reported damage, but none was visible in the area of the reported protest and employees said they hadn't seen any. However, one protester, who asked that his name not be used, said he had seen others light small fires in alleys "that weren't supposed to really burn anything," and fire engines raced to put out fires Thursday night.
The demonstration aimed to protest the acquittal of Zimmerman, who was accused of murdering Trayvon Martin but was found not guilty last weekend by a Florida jury.
Police ordered the crowd to disperse and most of the demonstrators left. However, police said, about 50 moved behind a cinder block wall and continued throwing rocks and debris.
Officers cleared out the remaining protesters and discovered a victim was physically assaulted. A suspect in that assault, 22-year-old parolee Byron Thomas, was taken into custody after a “lengthy foot chase,” police said.
In total, 11 people were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery, assaulting a police horse, assaulting a peace officer and vandalism.

And the ignorance rallies continue.....throwing rocks at vehicles, vandalizing property, assaulting innocent by-standers, what a great way to "protest"...

to respond to protest-related calls elsewhere in the city, a police vehicle left the northeast corner of Base Line and Waterman Avenue.

Re: UPDATE: Verdict In - Not Guilty - Zimmerman Trial
WHat the fuck is wrong with these people? They're actually protesting a death that happened on the opposite coast of the country? When their own backyard is plagued with violence and bodies are dropping almost weekly? Why not work on stopping the violence in your own neighborhood? Goerge Zimmerman could never inflict the same level of pain and cause the same amount of damage that some of the locals do.
Man people need to stop being media dupes and start taking control of their communities.
