Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
I wonder how big a black gang can get over there, being that Oxnard's black population is less to 3%.
Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
well ive read that riverside has anywhere from a 5 to 7 % black populace, so maybe oxnard can have a few of em, given that riverside has about 100,000 more people than oxnardNYTE RYDA wrote:I wonder how big a black gang can get over there, being that Oxnard's black population is less to 3%

I'm pretty sure they handle their own considering LA counties black population is around 10 percent and Hispanics are around the 40s percentage.!! Blacks are usually outnumbered but they still manage to make their noice regardless.!!!

Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
Somewhere on here a few years back I posted a Colonia X Chiques history on here written by a oxnard detective who found that some of the original members were black and that the colonia's are mixed on ther feelings toward blacks. Some of them recognize that blacks had a huge part...at one time the community was mixed...but the younger generations are more on some racism shit. I think there are 2 black hoods in ventura county one being in oxnard and the other I think in Lompoc or some shit...i'll google it.

Yeah, but Riverside's total population is also larger, as you pointed out. So naturally, the actual number of blacks there will be larger, even if Riverside's was just 3% like Oxnard.
But I used to know a girl out there in Oxnard, she was black, and she would always joke about how she was the only black person in town. But, there may very well be a small section of town where there is a decent concentration of blacks.

Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
Colton City Crips for instance. Blacks make up a small percentage of Colton. These dudes did most of there recruiting right there in their apartments and the local highschools and surrounding community. About 60 active but probably close to 150 to include those in prison and retired, or dead. Obviously, there are three documented black gangs on the west side of oxnard. I read somewhere online that BMG has about 20 active members and a certain amount of associates. The west side crips, Durley Crips and BMG. Durley Park is where most of the blacks are at in oxnard. I would assume that its about half the size of SB's westside. So i'm sure them dudes is around the size of a CCC in each respective hood.

Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
Defendant's friend testifies about 2006 Oxnard murder and robbery
By Raul Hernandez
Updated Tuesday, March 9, 2010
A close friend of murder defendant Anthony McDaniel testified Tuesday that McDaniel didn’t appear sad or remorseful on the day he allegedly shot a 14-year-old boy in Oxnard.
“Was he proud?” asked prosecutor Rameen Minoui.
“Yes,” said Robert Spann, 25.
Spann, a parolee turned informant, testified for more than three hours in McDaniel’s murder trial. Both Spann, whose moniker is “C-Rag,” and McDaniel, whose gang nickname is “Sneaks,” are alleged to be members of the Westside Gangster Crips gang.
McDaniel of Oxnard is accused of killing Daniel Quintero on Aug. 21, 2006, and of robbing the Panaderia Vanessa bakery and wounding some of its employees Sept. 3, 2006. One bakery worker was shot four times in the back.
Prosecutors allege McDaniel, 25, killed Quintero because he was allegedly beaten up by several gang members weeks earlier. He went seeking revenge when he spotted Quintero on his porch. Quintero, who was a Colonia Chiques gang member, followed McDaniel who was armed and was walking around the neighborhood challenging Latino males to a fight.
McDaniel’s lawyer, Jan Helfrich, has said her client acted in self-defense.
In a secretly tape-recorded jailhouse conversation in March 2007, Spann, who claims to be McDaniel’s crime partner, got him to brag, joke, laugh and give many details about the slaying of Quintero and the bakery robbery. The details included that he shot one bakery employee in the back four times, and that the fired bullets formed a diamond on the victim’s back. Jurors were shown the diamond-shaped pattern on the victim’s back.
Spann said he didn’t know McDaniel was going to rob the bakery in the early morning hours when he told him that he was going in to get a beverage and bread. Spann said both had taken methamphetamine shortly before the robbery. Spann said he heard multiple gunshots as he was parked in an alley behind the bakery.
“I was shocked for all that to happen that day,” he said. “He already decided that he was going to rob it without telling me.”
Spann testified about three other robberies the two committed after the Vanessa bakery, including robbing another bakery in Oxnard and an elderly man in September 2006.
After Spann and other suspects were arrested for a gasoline station robbery in Camarillo on Oct. 15, 2006, he went to police and offered to help them solve the Quintero murder. He also told them he was with McDaniel during the Panaderia Vanessa robbery.
“I wanted to do the right thing and help myself,” Spann said.
Spann, who was facing a long prison sentence, said he made a deal with authorities.
If he helped police arrest McDaniel in one crime, Spann would receive a seven-year sentence, and if he helped them solve the two crimes, he would do five years in prison, according to Spann.
During cross examination, attorney Jan Helfrich questioned Spann about robberies he was involved in 2004. Spann said he committed two to four robberies in 2004. Helfrich asked him about the clothing he was wearing along with details of the robberies.
Spann’s cross examination continues today.

Re: Ventura County Gangs.!
An alleged gang member accused of killing a 14-year-old boy in 2006 is on trial for first-degree murder, attempted murder and robbery in Ventura County Superior Court.
Anthony McDaniel of Oxnard was arrested in 2007 while he was in county jail serving time for another crime.
In a secret tape-recorded conversation, McDaniel, 25, is heard bragging and often laughing loudly to a jail informant about the killing of Daniel Quintero on an Oxnard street on Aug. 21, 2006.
Opening statements in McDaniel’s trial began Wednesday and will continue today with McDaniel’s lawyer, Jan Helfrich, making her opening statements.
McDaniel also boasts about robbing the Vanessa Bakery in Oxnard on Sept. 3, 2006, where several employees were shot, including one worker who was shot four times in the back.
Prosecutor Rameen Minoui told jurors that McDaniel is also being tried for attempted murder and the armed robbery of the bakery. Jurors will also hear about a string of other robberies that McDaniel and another man committed, which are not being charged in this trial.
Minoui said McDaniel is a member of the Westside Gangster Crips and shot Quintero after he lost a fight with another person. Minoui said McDaniel went back to the same area where he lost the fight, put on large sunglasses, a baseball cap and his Crips “rag” around his neck and begins challenging male Latinos. McDaniel spotted Quintero, who was on his porch, and walked up and down the street in front of him.
Finally, Quintero followed McDaniel as he walked down the street and was shot when he was about 6 feet away.
In an unusual twist to the trial, Ventura County Superior Court Judge Patricia Murphy is allowing lawyers to refer to the homicide victim as “Daniel Q” during the trial. Police made the deceased victim’s name public in a news release when the crime occurred as required by state open records law.
Helfrich said in an interview that it is being done to protect the family who heard Minoui’s opening statements. Chief Deputy District Attorney Michael Frawley, who was in court, said he didn’t know why.
“Ask the judge,” he said.
Defense lawyer Jay Leiderman, who is not involved in the case, said it is “exceeding rare” to only refer to a deceased victim by his first name in a murder trial, when the name has already been made public.
“It doesn’t make much sense to me,” he said.

On paper, Colton has a larger black population in terms of percentile and per capita, at 10- 11 % of 52, 000 +. But Oxnard, even with its 2 - 3%, still has a higher actual number of blacks due to it's much larger population of near 200,000. Either way, Onxards readily VISIBLE black population, is less than that of Colton's, and Colton doesn't have much of one to begin with. But obviously, they're deep enough to make their name known.
